Did anyone really think that the Macpherson Report & others would change the attitudes of some NOT ALL police officers. Such minds can only be altered over a very long time and these actions will continue until they are.

The problem with the McPherson report was that it identified and served up scathing criticism of The Met, but didnt offer one single tangible and workable solution. A big part of why its still prevalent is that its virtually impossible to legislate against something that is an inherent state of mind in certain people. Thankfully society at large has moved on far faster in the last 20 years than the police service seems to have done and racism is almost universally condemned and abhorred by the vast majority of the population

Twenty years on his brother, who is a teacher, says he has been stopped by the Met police over 25 times in recent years

I don't get what your point is here???
Me & my mate got pulled on the way to the golf course last Sunday morn at 7:30am & my mate was brethalised for no reason. No conspiracy there.

Think he is saying the Met are still institutionally racist and that nothing has changed. 25 times does seem a awful lot to be pulled over, now whether they are doing because it is SL's brother or for some other reason who knows. Personally I have never been stopped

What was the circumstances under which stopped?

Was it 3am in the morning and he was walking down a residential street? Was he in an area well known for gang violence? What is his attitude towards the Police walking the beat?

TBH, without more information, I don't care if he's been stopped once or 50 times.

I would imagine that being a teacher meant he was a professional person and not some one who would be otherwise be 'known to the police'.
Teachers go out drinking with friends,go to football matches & commit driving offences, just like all other walks of life. All cases that could get you pulled by the police. To say he's been pulled 25 times & offer no other facts is a bit vague.

Harold Shipman was a professional person...

It doesn't matter whether or not he was a bin man or High court judge. Its about where he was and what he was doing. And, understandably, he might just be very antagonistic towards the Police. Maybe he goes out looking to be picked up just so he can continue the "the Met are all institutionally racist" thing.

Context is important......

In my younger days when I was on the lash all the time I used to get stopped by the polis all the time. It was crazy o'clock in the morning and I was stotting about so not unexpected.

Now (as I lead a sheltered life these days) I am never in a position to be stopped.
