hi lads any of you tryin or tryed this new swing? I've just got into it on the internet but i'm really interested cause as of now i didn't realise that i have a one swing plane. any pro or fellow golfer just said that i've got quite a flat swing eh. So Watched stuff on u tube and saw Aaron Baddeley swing witch has alot of similarities to mine(not saying i'm as good but there could be something to strive for)
What do you guys think

Its an interesting concept and I know a few guys who study the swing (RGuk etc) have their own particular views on it. Personally I have enough trouble trying to get a conventional swing to work without the stress of a new method.

I don't see many coaches advocating it as the way to go. It might work for some golfers but I think personally you'd be better advised getting a couple of lessons and correcting the conventional plane problems you have.

as i said before i'm very similar to Aaron Baddeley apart from at impact his hips are far more open than me(think thats what i've to work on) there's quite a few tour pros using this system so there must be some sort of good theory behind it. I'm fedup with people saying i'm to flat.I'm glad bobmac sees it different from other people as we are all different sizes and shapes.

I experimented with some of the ideas of stack and tilt last summer. I tried to make no weight movement to the back foot and back again, I kept my head completely still (no lateral movement at all) and allowed my swing to work around myself with my right knee "stacked" (bent) almost like a reverse pivot.

I played a few really good rounds (scoring mid-high 70s) throwing away all the basics of golf that I've been taught or picked up over the years.....

What did I learn? My iron shots became better but my wood shots started to suffer.

Have a peek at this.

If indeed Aaaron is a good example, notice how incredibly still he stays, almost as if his body has gone to sleep and he just turns his upper half in harmony with the club.

I hit some of the sweetest irons ever trying it (I suppose similar to Faldo's "charlie chaplin" routine of practice swinging with feet together). Because there's no movement, the bottom of the arc on the way down was unerringly predictable......

I struggled with long clubs and the consistency off a tee peg I had previously....I just think I was too quick to move onto the front foot and ended up striking down with woods.

This was my experience......I videoed myself a few times and t.b.h. my whole backswing was too horrible to say for sure....not because of trying this, but generally....

I'm now in better shape, swinging as normal...

My pro "allows" me to move to the right. He wants me to a) keep my left arm straight (getting better) b) cock my wrists much more and c) get the butt-end of the club at the ball when I "set" it

This is where I am.....good or bad.....and it's working...

I belive the pros who play that way is because they have a fear of left, its hard to get behind the ball stack and tilting

Your off 8.7 flat or not it works, when ever anyone seen my swing some say i should change a few things

point taken andiritchie but you always want to get better and improve. good clip rguk i notice Aaron keeps perfectly still during his backswing but if u notice theres a lateral slide about 2" towards the left. So it seems there is weight shift but maybe it easy to time it better i dont really know.

You can only try it to see for yourself,i have little leg movement going back,i just turn the top half of my body then i try to stay there into the hitting area i suppose its in between stack and tilt and a traditional swing

The postion RGUK is in going back is nice, and the thought of getting the butt end of the club pointing at the ball or just inside will stop a flat swing

What would happen if a guy who has a reverse pivot and doesn't know it, reads about the stack and tilt.
Think of the problems that would cause.
There are lots of tips on the interwebthingy, but unless you know what your fault is, how can you start looking for the cure. :D

True Bob everyone has there area of expertise

I had lessons as a junior from 94-99 and got down to 9 the stopped playing till summer 06 i belived i knew what i was doing but could not play to the standard i was at

My body had changed so i started from scratch hitting 1/4 shots with my pro,i didnt want a quick fix and now iam off 8 its just a matter of learning to green read and a few years until i get where i want to be

I have to say that even though the clip was in slo mo you seem to spend a long time at address. However once you took the club back it looked very, very good. Everything moved nicely and the timing was good.

lol homejsimpson i didnt take the video mate. i did say to my partner i'll tell u when i'm ready but he started it as soon as i was over the ball. Thanks for the encouragement but you always want to improve. I think its all about my hips being lazy but cant seen to get them round fast enough without duffing my shot.

John, do you lift your left heel off the ground?
Did Jack Nicklaus do this?

I'm intrigued now.....if you decided to try some stack and tilt theories, it would be an interesting experiment.

I like the look of it.....especially at 9 o'clock.....but, hmmm, yes, it's flat and unless you were intending driving over the trees, you must have been closed with your feet.

I'd say invest in a lesson or two......your swing is very different to what I'm trying for, and obviously you are a better player, but I think some tweaking could make a huge difference.

My swing was flat two months ago and I couldn't buy a straight shot. At the moment, I'm hitting many more bang on and IF this gets more consistent, I expect to dip down to single figures pretty quickly.
