Hence lots of folk won't have a clue who he is. (Is a public vote still the way this is chosen?)
Absolutely. That applies to a lot of sports though. I don't watch much sport that the BBC puts out, apart from MotD. That means I'm equally struggling and having to google some of the other people listed.

Saying that, Littler has made national news and has broken out of being a purely Sky story. If anyone genuinely has not heard of him then you mustn't be following sport generally. Same way that I have not watched boxing for years but I know who Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are, I don't follow F1 but I know the Verstappen has dominated again. It's out there.

Luke Littler, 17yr old darts sensation. Honestly, Google him. Made a huge impact on the sport this year.

I'm guessing you don't have Sky Sports at all?
I don't, so I assume he has only made an impact on Sky Sports:rolleyes: darts watchers. Is darts featured elsewhere (other than the local pub ;))?
Although I had seen something about a darts player in the paper but didn't know his name or just what he had done.

Shame the Beeb doesn’t show more of the sports they celebrate every year.
Suppose they’ve got better things to blow our licence fee on 🤷‍♂️

Team of the year should be Clare Balding and Mark Foster for the Olympics swimming coverage. Brilliant tv (yes, I'm aware I have left out Rebecca Adlington. I try to blank her out and listen to the other two)
Whoa your talking about omitting the pride of Mansfield, me duck 😂👍

After her, there’s me in me crocs and speedos, made for tv and swimming I am.

If the football under 20 World Cup win didn’t get it can’t see the rugby lads getting it

Suspect it’s prob going to be

Man City
Either of the Olympics teams ( which I don’t think should be classed as a team )

Maybe McLaren

Given it’s a public vote, and the public are cynical, Man City’s current form will be working against them in the vote if have thought?

I have never watched darts in my life, hate the game. And even I've heard of Littler, as he has been talked about almost non stop at times on many platforms that talk about sport. I'm surprised you are not even aware of him.

It's almost like a non boxing fan having said they have never heard of Muhammad Ali, non golfing fan never heard of Tiger Woods or non basketball fan never having heard of Michael Jordan (unless they saw Space Jam) :)

The last time I saw any darts, a guy called Eric Bristow was playing, just before I turned the TV off. I think he died a few years ago.
I know as much about Littler as I do about whoever won the last world chess, judo or squash championship.

Incidentally, how many world championships has Littler won?

But just having looked him up , his record is very impressive.

I don't know any chess, judo or squash players. I don't even know Littler's record.

What I do know is that he was plastered over every sports media platform, he must have been unavoidable to most people with an interest in sport

I have an interest in sport but only some golf. some soccer, some tennis, some athletics. Unless I recognise a word, name or picture I ignore it. It's pretty easy to ignore anything else simply by scanning a page.
