Team of the year should be Clare Balding and Mark Foster for the Olympics swimming coverage. Brilliant tv (yes, I'm aware I have left out Rebecca Adlington. I try to blank her out and listen to the other two)

If the football under 20 World Cup win didn’t get it can’t see the rugby lads getting it

Suspect it’s prob going to be

Man City
Either of the Olympics teams ( which I don’t think should be classed as a team )

Maybe McLaren

There should be a category for best female football commentator/pundit 🫢
There's a female ex-goalkeeper with a NW accent (can't remember if she's a scouser or a Manc) who's an occasional commentator on the radio. She's one of the most interesting and insightful commentator/pundits irrespective of gender.

I would estimate that if I walked into a clubhouse on a busy Saturday and gave that description, possibly around 10% of the golfers would know who I was talking about, let alone expecting the general public to have a clue.
You did get that I was not being serious (at all) in my 'shock/horror' that she's not nominated - of course she wasn't going to be.

Rather your observation highlights the issue of women's golf I was alluding to - never mind at amateur level - and indeed golf in general in the eyes of the wider public. At least Tiger Woods won World SPOTY...once.

So in same vein - team of the year - GB&I Curtis Cup team - beating the Americans for the first time since 2016. No of course not. Was great though. 😃

That is the sad part, there are going to be so many sporting achievements that people will never have seen because they do not subscribe to a certain channel or it was not deemed worthy of promoting or even covering. Even sports websites ignore or demote the importance of certain events either because they do not have the rights and do not want to promote it or, as if too often the case, all of the headlines or column inches are taken up by football.
