I am currently thinking of getting some surround sound speakers and was wondering if I am watching tv but don't want surround sound is the receiver able to send the sound direct to the tv speakers?

Receiver I'm looking at is this one anyone got any experience of it?

It says it can connect to my home network and use airplay from itunes. Would this entail plugging an ethernet cable into my router?

Thanks for any help

In the list of questions on the Amazon page, this one looks like it covers it:

Q. If I want to just watch my Sky/DVD/BD without surround sound, does the HDMI signal pass through when in standby?

A. yes it does

But why wouldn't you want "Man Sound" all the time? :D

Don't forget there will be various eq settings on the AVR which may replicate the sound of just the tv being on if you get what I mean. Then again if you're getting decent speakers why bother using the tv sound at all.

I can't see where it says it's wireless so yes I imagine you'd have to run an ethernet cable to it...
