I know the ultimate answer to this is see a doctor but that is easier said than done and also impractical for the next two weeks. I have strained, or similar, the muscles in both arms on the inside of my elbow. It might be the bottom of my bicep, I don't know the anatomy of arms that well. Anyway, I did it around 8 weeks ago, it has not got better and is starting to become more obvious.

Has anyone done anything similar? Are there exercises that will help the repair or is it a dr / physio job?

Not knowing the correct term means I am struggling to Google what I could do to help.

Try looking up the symptoms for tennis elbow and see if they fit.

If yes it's normally just physio - one visit to get the correct exercises.

I think tennis elbow is on the outside of the elbow ( on and off sufferer for 10 years or so)
Inside of the elbow is Golfer's elbow..?
Rest, Ibuprofen and massage seems to work for me but a trip to the quack wouldn't be amiss

Visit to the Doc is advisesble, but they won't do anything based on that description. They'll tell you to rest it, ice it regularly, maybe take ibuprofen etc. It'll take months to get them to send you to a physio etc...

Golfers elbow is mainly a summer problem with hard ground.
Winter you get it hitting off mats at the range.
It’s a shock to the joint.
The tendon sheath is iritated and is very sore
Rest is the only answer as it needs time to settle down.

Tennis or golfers elbow you need the Thera-Band Flexbar, look it up on YouTube for how to use, I had tennis elbow and this cured it.
I got one after you mentioned it previously on here and it worked me. (y)

I have tennis elbow already and yes, that is on the outside of the arm. Clearly my feeble muscles are not up to the job.

Rest? The golf season is coming up 😱😱.

I'll look into the flexbar, thanks.

From your description it does sound like golfers elbow, get quite a few people come to me with this.

Buy yourself a stress ball or squash ball, whilst squeezing the ball work on slowly pronating forearms, do 2 sets of 15 reps in both arms. Also get a tea towel soak it with water then with a light grip alternating the hand movements wring it out till dry. Both of these will help strengthen the forearm and release tension on where the epicondyle which is where pain originates from. Massage it with ice afterwards to bring down inflammation and should be good to go. Will take a while to recover though LT.

Thanks all. Now I know the likely issue I can start to deal with it. I have a lovely month of golf lined up so rest is not an option right now. I'll start with the exercises and dope myself up. Let's hope the WADA testers don't come knocking 😄

I also got given an exercise by a friends wife who is a physio. Arm out straight with your palm facing up, rotate your wrist all the way around so it's facing upwards again, hold and repeat.
Get yourself reet for that open mate ;)

I get golfers elbow in the summer if I practice off hard ground too often and rest, ice and ibuprofen does the trick. Might see if I can acquire a Thera-band flexbar from our physios on MOnday

LT ,the easiest thing for you to do is visit your local pharmacy ,they will know exactly what ails you and get you sorted out .
hope all goes well and that it dosent interfere with the golf tooooooooo much.

I had all kinds of elbow and shoulder strains at times from the years I played baseball. I guess throwing a ball 80+ mph repeatedly and twisting the elbow to impart the curve necessary just isn't natural. Since I retired, touch wood, it's been ideal although I can still hear the creaks when I bend the arm. Pretty much every major league pitcher has had some form of surgery including the famous Tommy John procedure where they take ligaments from the other elbow and transplant them into the throwing one. That's 15-18 months recovery time.

So anyone who has any kind of arm or shoulder problem has my sympathies. At least now the diagnosis and rehabilitation is a lot better and easier to obtain.
