Had a game today with a mate. We were supposed to be playing his track but because of a little rain they'd closed the course till about 11 so we changed to my home course. Wind howling (again!) but no rain and remarkably dry undefoot. Anyway, I proceeded to take the match 9&8 playing out of my skin. 1 over par gross at the turn and only 3 over coming to 17 - then...........

A chunked tee shot that dribbled out of bounds. This accounted for a triple bogey. Bug*er!!!!

Never mind thought I, its only a game. Last hole 150 yrd par 3 downwind. Played a wedge to 15 feet just off the green and then holed the chip for a birdie and a 5 over par 76 nett 64. Saw the Secretary on the way into the clubhouse and mentioned my feat. "I'll have a look at that" he said so I'm waiting to see what happens.

Best round of the year - take off the 2 for the OB and its the best I've shot in 3 years - in that wind. Hopefully get cut a shot but we'll see. :D :D

Hmmm.....I could shoot a gross 59 with only my swimming trunks on and a set of hickory shafted mashies & niblicks from 1905 and not get noticed.
Alternatively, I could have a gross 99 in a Sunday game off yellows and not get 0.1......(you know the rest, even I'm bored of it ))

Anyway.....enough joking.....that's a great score....wow :)....well done to you :)

Yep he was a bit peeved. But then he started 8,8 and went downhill from there - could have played left-handed and still beaten him but thats golf.

Sure enough - went to the club today and the handicap has gone down a whopping 1.2 to 11.
First cut of the year and now only 3 shots off my best ever of 8.1. Hope I can keep it going......
