Society day longest drive occurence

Had the same in our Captain’s Day a few years back where two of the three longest drive holes have ditches running across the fairway about 260-270 yards out. Too long to carry but still very reachable for the long hitters.

The holes for these prizes need to be much more carefully chosen because if you’re not in the fairway you don’t win. Sorry!

Had this happen at the Cooden meet this year. Chose the 18th (Par 5) as the LD hole. How did I know that the fairway ran out at about 350 yards and a couple of people went into the rough there. It was downwind though. I'll make it a different hole next year.

Darenth Valley (near Sevenoaks) 4th hole.

Yea. That is a stupid hole on that course. Saying that not many can drive through the gap😀

This. I've had it happen to me too but i was disqualified as i wasn't on the fairway. I think the 18th at The Wildernesse has this problem and both times i've played there i've run out of fairway!

It's simply the wrong choice of hole for longest drive.

Scratch that. It’s just occurred to me that it was t The Wildernesse it was the 18th at Hindhead.
