I'm sure this is a thought many people have had about the USPGA ace. Although I'm not a Tiger fan And maybe because I'm not a Tiger fan, I'd like to know when he is due to come back to competative golf, if nothing else, so I can get some peace.

He's been out of things for how long & yet we still seem to have his image flashing up at us wherever we turn. I know he's a genious & he's certainly achieved a lot in such a short time.

For many years he's finished well ahead of the field in whatever competition he's played in more often than not. But over the last year or so when he was playing, before his extended break, he certainly was not quite that far ahead of the rest of the field. I certainly wouldn't put this down to injury alone, as I for one certainly am of the opinion that many of his oponents have now learnt an important lesson about applying themselves to practice, fitness & competition psycology.

So when he comes back, is he going to be competative...?
Will the leg hold up under the pressure of competition... ?
And will he simply cause yet more damage to that knee...?
Oh & how long will Steve Williams be the Bag-man...?
Should Nike have been thinking about using a different player for their advertising whilst he's not been winning them any competitions worldwide...?

Is he going to be the Phoenix flying from the fire, or will he crash in flames...?

Quite a weight of expectation on his shoulders! I think given the amount of media coverage around his discontent with Steve I can see a few more stories starting to leak out to try and slowly lower our expectations of his great return!

Personally I admire what he's done and respected his decision to not attend the Ryder cup as part of the back room...

...we had a drinking game, shot of vodka everytime they said his name, was clearly drunk quite quickly. Imagine what it would have been like if he was there!

He's not rushing things, making sure the knee is strong again.

If they can fix up footballers knees I'm sure they can do a good job on a golfer so I don't foresee the knee being an issue.

He is good for a few more majors yet, his short game is so good that even if he can't hit it as far as he did 5 years ago that won't really matter.

I think you will see a very contrite Steve Williams at least for the first few months (head down and focussed on the job) although he seems to have a Motyesque habit of opening mouth before engaging brain so further damage will inevitably be done in the future. I think he is at last chance saloon.

I think his leg will be fine and he will not come out onto the main tour unless he thinks he can be competitive. As for Nike, he is a brand leader irrespecitve of if he is currently playing or not. People relate to his name and image rather than where he is on a leaderboard week by week.

I think you can expect him to be a force at at least one major (maybe the Masters will come too soon) and that he will be close to number 1 on the money list by the end of the season

He certainly is THE Nike Golf figurehead. Regardless of whether he plays or not, combining his name and image with Nike Golfing goods is ample enough to shift their gear.

Must admit that it would be nice to see him competing again in 2009.

At the Nike academy in the states their figurehead sportsmen and woman all have a street or a building named after them... Tiger has an entire complex dedicated to him.

Its safe to say Nike are going to be hand in hand with Tiger for some time, playing or not!

I think Tiger will come back soon as he has some majors to notch up, he is probably practicing like mad right now and any return announcement will be held up as added spice for the moment.

If he doesnt come back and becomes Nike MD in the USA I will simply never speak to the man again!

I am not sure he will be at the masters, I think it is too soon. I would guess he will do the US open and the USPGA(only if they are at courses he likes though). I think he will skip the open, and not be ready for the masters.

So when he comes back, is he going to be competative?
Absolutely, he won't tee it up if he doesn't think he can win.

Will the leg hold up under the pressure of competition?
Yes, I think this is going to herald a new era of Tiger dominance.

And will he simply cause yet more damage to that knee? No

Oh & how long will Steve Williams be the Bag-man?
If there was an opportunity to sack him, it was after the Mickelson comments. Don't think he'll do it now, unless he walks in on Steve pumping Elin.

Should Nike have been thinking about using a different player for their advertising whilst he's not been winning them any competitions worldwide...?
He's not been losing either, just not playing. Not much to pick from with the rest of the Nike staffers, AK not quite the household name yet.
