So, people on here slate Tiger.....

Remember the "I putted like a spas" comment at The Masters a couple of years back?

comments like this and the spitting issue are acceptable in America! they have bowls for you to spit-in in some of the bars in southern states and baseball players do it all the time! he did apologise afterwards!

The worst thing anybody seems to have to say about him is that he spits. Big deal. Other players probably do it as well but they don't have a camera on them constantly, following their every move. Same with the occasional outburst after a bad shot. Big deal. who doesn't do that?

I don't see how his attitude or example can be criticised. He's the best player in the world by far, has more money than he could ever spend and yet he still works as hard as anyone and is motivated to do even better. He is generally courteous to interviewers, and remember he has to do a helluva lot of interviews, and does a fair amount for charity. He also seems to ne generally liked by his peers.

The guy's not a saint but but he comes in for a lot of criticism from people who are probably just bored of seeing him win all the time.

One thing I would say is that I wish he would lighten up on the course a wee bit. He has a great job but rarely looks like he enjoys it much.

I should say that I am not a particulr fan of Tiger Woods, by the way.

and I wasn't having a go at Kim re the War hero just pointing out if the roles had been reversed it would have been interesting to see peoples reactions.

If the roles were reversed, Tiger wouldve been cyber-dragged over the coals and been hung, drawn & quartered by a number of people on here.

Tiger has to be exemplary in is behaviour or people slate him from all four corners of the interweb, however other players do far worse than Tiger and nobody bats an eyelid. Double standards or what?

I have to say I thought Kim just looked like a fool letting go of his clubs like that after a bad shot. Its clearly something he has seen others (Woods) do and thinks its acceptable. His behaviour towards the guy in the wheelchair especially in Tigers event on the 4th July weekend was either crass misjudgement or testament to the rich soilt brat behaviour that some US sportsmen (not just golfers) have.

I dislike Tiger too from time to time especially his dealings with the media. It would be refreshing for him to actually come out and say he played badly instead of these "I'm almost there" or " I was unlucky and....". I think he needs to look at his behaviour on course and remember he is shaping the golfers of the next generation. That said you can't fault him for the generosity he gives to charities etc. I guess its a ying/yang thing.

As for Poulter, I really try and like the guy as there are times when he is a refreshing change from the monosyllabatic tour pros but he then goes and makes comments like he did yesterday and I just think he's an idiot. A talented golfer but with an ego that is getting in the way of fulfilling his potential

Trick is, no modern sportsman is going to come straight out and say I played badly. They are all coached by their psychologists to externalise, and project any failings onto something which is out of their control. They are also going to try to make positive statements, rather than dwell on the negative aspects. I would expect this.

Same with injuries. The knee is suffering damage, rather than I have hurt my knee. All sports people do this again. There is no sense of ownership.
