Had a look today at some 3 woods to replace my Launcher 17 degree fairway.
I thought I might be able to get a few more yards with a couple of degrees less loft - recently aquired a Rapture V" 5 wood that goes very nicely and on the way to the same distance as the 17*.

So I rocked up the AG in MK and I hit mine first - nice and solid to set a standard.
RBZ next - it was ok, a touch of fade now and then but generally good and in the right direction
G20 - much the same as the RBZ, maybe a little more draw but stats very close
i20 - Ooohh, didn't like it at all - can't explain exactly what but it wasn't right.
R11s - much the same as the RBZ/G20
So, discounting the i20, the other 3 all felt and went much the same....

Trouble is, they all went and felt much the same as my Launcher, maybe the RBZ was a little longer overall - but not 160 quid's worth longer.

So I'm sticking at the moment, until the Launcher wears out, breaks or really starts to mis-behave.
And the AG Guy agreed. After my first shot with my wood he said " And you want to change this..why.?"

New is not always better.

No harm in looking though is there, if only to reinforce your view that nothing tangible would be gained. I presume your Launcher is similar to a 4 wood?

Amazed you didn't like the i20. Tried it back to back with a few other woods at a Demo day. It goes off like an absolute rocket. I would love one but my OCD wont let me buy one because it wouldnt match my other woods.

Try an i15 Murg with the stock stiff shaft. Mine goes like a canon and its forgiving.
You can keep the ball low and hit it high as well. Plenty workable if you need it.
They should be cheap enough now.

I hit Hobbit's RBZ 17 degree and it went MILES!, I'd buy the 15.5 degree tomorrow if I had the cash, I'd also buy the 13.5 degree for the courses where I need to hit 3-wood off the tee more often... and the 17 degree.... and the 20 degree..... :o...... so that's £640 spent......

Nice cheap days shopping then Ian. I am very impressed with AG in MK for being so honest.

3 woods gonna get ya!

The seed is planted, you will eat away at yourself until you give in, mark my words! It's gonna happen!

SOON!

It's a High trajectory 3 wood - shaft length of a 3 wood, head size of a 3 wood, 17 degrees instead of 15

Been there, done that, worn the tee-shirt out - again was no better than the Launcher:thup:

YOu're probably right Craw - didn't you have a Rapture 3w for a while..? The 5 goes very well...Mmmm!

Have you tried a G15 with an Adila stiff shaft.....? They should be very cheap in AG just now!
See i15 above....

I loved my Callaway Diablo Edge Tour 3 & 5 fairways as they were one of the easiest to hit fairways I've used off the deck even though the trajectory was a mid tolow flight.

However I bought a MD Superstrong F7 fairway for £40 to bridge the gap between my 5 iron and 5 wood and I simply couldn't believe how good it was. It quickly became my banker club for duffed drives, slight rough and long par 3's.

The flight and trajectory could be altered at will and it is one of the easiest and longest clubs I've used so when I saw the 3 and 5 fairways on ebay with Dunluce Golf for £40 I decided to take the plunge and bought them.

They are so easy to use from the fairway I'd recommend them to any standard of player. The height, trajectory and distance are all superb and at £40 they offer performance on par with many clubs costing 3 times the price

I am still going to try the RBZ fairways (3 & 5). Off to the range Sunday morning me thinks to give them some serious consideration. Birthday time next month so it is always good to have a present in mind
