Snow

Blizzard conditions when I took the dogs out at 9am, today's game at Arcot cancelled. Hoping for better luck tomorrow morning up at Newbiggin.

You'll do well to swing a club with 9 layers on. Any less than that and the wind will cut you in two . The hot chocolate afterwards will taste great though (y):coffee:

Touched freezing last night but no snow. Mull's peaks are white from maybe 1000 feet up. Blue skies today and sunny, no wind to speak of. I'll take that.

the forecast is for the wind to drop to around 10mph tomorrow, wouldn't have fancied Newbiggin today!

just had an email from them saying the course is closed today due to snow, and there is a yellow warning for more snow tonight, so good chance tomorrow will be cancelled as well. I guess we had to get some crap weather sometime this winter!

Nothing here so far in my little corner of Lincolnshire a very mild and sunny day, though the Mrs has said that she's just got to work in Newark and there's a light dusting on the ground there so perhaps it is moving our way but if it could wait till Monday then that would be acceptable

Consett that takes me back a bit, used to work in the steel mill around 40 years ago , only place I’ve ever got a bollocking for working to hard😀

Sounds familiar. I got a roasting for working too hard in the week, killing the chance of weekend overtime.

Spent 8 months living in Consett, old school, work or more to the point going into work and being told to do as little as possible on the blast furnace. Pub every night football on Saturday, mate was a Sunderland fan so it was Roker Park. 👍

If we get snow here you will hear about it on the news.

We only get it occasionally, 5-6 times in the 30+ years I have lived here.

English ski season kicked off today with the lifts at Raise and Weardale running. Yad Moss expected to run tomorrow.

Lake District fells look stunning today, snow covered to low level.

Loads of snow round my way yesterday. Today all the local courses I have 'liked' on Facebook have been putting up pictures of the course covered in snow and saying they're closed.

vert strange, just been up the vets by Inches, one side of the A9 covered in snow the East side of it not a drop?????

its not like the other side is less exposed, in fact more open the UHI side...

Anyone in the south-west stuck in because of snow, is it as bad as the media say? Saw on my phone Daily Mail had an online headline saying 3 feet when the image beside it was barely 3" of snow - press do seem to go a bit daft with weather 'extremes'. See its set to get very mild shortly.
We had -6c last night which is unusually cold for us right on the west coast with the gulf stream 'warm' sea normally tempering cold air.
Went and bought a large back of salt as our drive slopes steeply and was proving hard to get the car out.
A few hours later the skies have clouded, rain/sleet has started and it's now 3c and thawing fast, but set to just freeze again tonight, why cant it just stay cold or stay mild, it's the constant freeze/thaw which gives us all the morning ice problems. Council funding shortages mean gritting is not done like it once was either.
Roll on spring.
