I used to play in a league when I was in my 20’s, but haven’t played for years. Snooker has to be the most frustrating game on God’s earth. Makes you appreciate how good the top players are.

Our golf club have joined the County snooker league this year. It has been very successful. The table was almost condemned with the proposed 'improvements' to the clubhouse, but our Captain and others have now saved the table, and we are riding high in the league.
I was quite good 30 years ago, and managed one century break back in the day. A 106 clearance. My appetite has been refreshed with the league, and I recently had a break of 70, my best for at least 20 years. This was not in the league, but against a friend. Best of 37 in the league.
I also really enjoy the sport (because it is undoubtedly a sport) on TV. It is brilliant theatre, and the table is perfect for a TV audience.

I have played a very large number of clubs having played in the Guildford and District league and the Byfleet league for many years and had many tables to compare it against. I think it was major contributory fact as to why not many used it.
In the early 80s I used to belong to the snooker club in Guildford in North Street, over what back then was the Co-Op. It used to stay open as long as a certain number of games were going on. Seem to remember it getting light once as we left! I was pretty awful at snooker to be honest, maybe the club was an excuse for late drinking!
Its shocking, I see some life bans upcoming
You learn something new every so often . I lived in Guildford and Woking area up until 1986 and never knew there was a club there.
There was time when every Burtons had a snoooker club above the shop. Long before I was born my parents owned a fish and chip shop in Guildford and my mum had to go up to the club and drag him out to put the fryers on and get ready to open.
Which chippy?
Sorry I would have no idea. It was before world War II.
Agreed, brilliant. That was excellent from Brecel, he has been superb throughout the whole tournament with some stunning comeback wins and dominated the final - a brilliant flair player , been a great final
