And....that's why I stated the comment about if the changes don't work. You did read what I wrote.....yeah?I diet change may not reduce your cholesterol though.

Probably not all of it!And....that's why I stated the comment about if the changes don't work. You did read what I wrote.....yeah?
I'm not really convinced fatty foods are bad unless it's trans fats.And....things may turn out ok. How many other examples similar have turned out not so well? I'm just not willing to believe anything that the health community tries to sell me. Why should I take statins....when I can just stop eating fatty foods? Why prescribe statins when a diet change will work? Why, do they not push a diet change instead of getting off your a$$ and eating better? Now.....if my diet changes don't work, fair enough. I'll live with statins, but it's a really lazy way to deal with cholesterol to just go the drug way. That's....well....the American medical way.
Yeah, I don't like it when there isn't a discussion. I've kind of talked myself into going in to the Dr again in a couple of weeks to have another sit-down with a Dr that actually talked with me last time. Possible side effect on the Atovorstatin (tinnitus)....they switched me to the R statin (can't remember the name) but after a couple of weeks I talked myself into giving up all my usually fatty foods (cheese, ice cream, potato chips, chocolate)....but I'm still drinking beer, so...... Gone back to eating cheese again and I'll see about another try with one of the statins. It's NOT as clear cut as they want you to believe....Well that was short, you're going on statins (Atovorstatin) , rest of your life.
No discussion about diet, future blood tests etc.
When I was on the statins (both Atorvastatin and Rosuvastatin)....I felt nothing. The other people I play golf with that were on them said the same thing. I "may" have triggered my tinnitus with the Atorvastatin, which is a possible side effect from that statin. They moved me to Rosuvastatin, but I decided to go back to eating better......which won't "solve" my slightly high cholesterol, but in my opinion is a decent compromise. Just looking back at my main number.....Another quick question re statins :
Do you actually feel any benefit from taking these or do they just work in the background ?
As far as I can see the NHS claims:Bad cholesterol below 4
If you are not considered to be at high risk of cardiovascular disease, there is no official target for LDL-C. However, many doctors would consider no more than 3.0 mmol/L as desirable
Keep taking them then.I had a check today and my total cholesterol level is 2.97 . I've been taking statins since my heart attack in early January, I'm told I need to take them forever.
Keep taking them then.
No doubt you are also on the likes of ramapril, bisoprolol & asprin?

You were unlucky.Yes, the likes of as bisoprolol started to make me look like the elephant man, and, apart from asperin and the stomach tablet all of the medication has be changed at least once
What exactly did the bisoprolol do ?Yes, the likes of as bisoprolol started to make me look like the elephant man, and, apart from asperin and the stomach tablet all of the medication has be changed at least once
Unless I looked like Dumbo beforehand
