Smoking

I'd like to know how many people there are in this country now employed telling ( sorry "advising") other people how to conduct their lives.

D'you mean as in "government" or as in "personal health/mental" coaches?
Slightly off topic, I realise, but I have a friend who is a life coach.....she's very nice and all that, but I do find it all a bit hard to take.

f.w.i.w. I think the legal age for smoking should be rising year on year. This would involve centralised (government) action, which needs man-hours, I guess?

Interesting q?

What I was getting at was mainly people working in the civil service. I see that new fathers have now to get a booklet with instructions on how to be a father !!. I wonder how many civil servants it took to put that together?
Also the number of "studies" published daily seems to be on the increase. A lot of people must be doing quite well out of all of them.

if you study the list of studies, you'll find that the vast majority fit into the 'stating the blindlingly obvious' category. such as 'St Andrews will flood if the sea level rises'.

Is there a budget cut-off for these things as in highway maintenance - if you don't spend it, you don't get as much next year.
