Slow play penalty...

good!!!

however his caddy needs sacking !!!!! and he must be golf thick!!!

this is why the honour should be removed from strokeplay, if yer ready whack away

I believe when a group is 'put on the clock' the official has to time each shot for all the players in the group... It would seem that Fisher fell foul of this on one particular shot and received the penalty... Shame really as I quite like him and he was in with a shot of taking the title... Think thats now been put beyond him...

Hopefully this is just the first step in speeding up play in pro golf and we'll see more of the same in the future...

Ross on a number occasions exceeded the 40 seconds per shot quite a few times because of that he then earned himself the penalty

At Wentworth on the friday three players were waiting for the three on the eighteenth green to putt out. Having stood waiting for at least five minutes for the green to clear, one of the following group then proceeded to consult his caddy, select a club, change his mind, select another, take several practice swings and at last play his shot. All I could do watching from the stand was say outloud several times "get on with it".
It's like watching paint dry. penalty stokes all round as far as I'm concerned.

thats a main culprit, many times I've been shouting - in my head- HIT IT!

Good on the tour. As soon as this becomes the norm and players start losing shots they'll get the message especially if they are in contention and lose it as a result. Its been to much a case of head in sand for too long with lots of talk about the need to do something. Get more penalties flying around. I applaud it

I agree with it. But, what can be done to increase the pace of play during our monthly medal. It would be impossible to introduce and police such a rule at club level. Or do people only see slow play as a curse in the professional ranks ??

I'm pleased the tour have finally done something about it. Now we just need the PGA Tour to follow suit.

In regards to medal play, all you need to do is to log the finishing times of all the groups playing in the medal. If there's a 20 minute gap between groups finishing then there's a good chance that someone on the following group is slow, and the club should talk to the members of that group and find out why.
