Slow play again

One of the 2 ball in front of the 2 ball in front of us the other day was having a real golfing experience on every tee shot....
After teeing the ball there was a 10 second alignment routine, a practice swing, a 10 second alignment routine, 25 seconds staring at the ball before hitting it......
No wonder the course was backing up behind them.....

So, @Mel Smooth nothing to add to the debate then? Just a laughing emoji? I would have thought as the poster of the clip you would have full context of the issue?

I don't know what the place of play situation was like mate, but if I was in a group with somebody farting about like that over a putt only to miss it, I'd be frustrated and amused in equal measure.

It shouldn't be allowed.

Indeed it shouldnt. Only concrete actions will change this type of nonsense. Time limits are fine in theory but either impractical to police, or ignored.

Proper rules changes that would make a difference :

- line on ball, and the deliberate aligning of names, logos, marking of a ball, for a shot is not permitted

- standing astride the line of a putt between the ball and the hole, and along projections of that line back from the ball, and on the far side of the hole, are not permitted

I don’t agree that he is ok to spend two minutes on a putt whether they are waiting at the next tee or not. In a fourball, each player takes two minutes for a putt. 8 minutes for four strokes. That’s not acceptable in any way shape or form.
For me, the ruling should be strongly emphasised at the start of the season and used.

I tried looking for the time allowed in the LPGA as they have made a fuss of their new rules regarding slow play. Does anyone know how long they allow for a putt?

I don't care what stage the comp is at, 2 minutes is too long. Is the person going out first allowed 2 minutes? Nope. This needs to be dealt with evenly. Reading a putt and taking it within a reasonable amount of time is as much a part of golf as the swing. Get on with it.

They need time to look at a putt and hit it. They shouldnt be allowed time tonpluck up the courage to hit it.
They shouldnt be allowed time to go through placebo time wasting like aimpoint or lining up ball lines.

4.5hrs is long enough even for the pros.....anything over 5hrs they should be flogged. Yeah, the courses are longer than mine. Yeah, they are playing for plenty of money and even their livelihood....but it would be the same for everybody. If they don't crack down on slow play they might as well let them take all day to play a round, then the slow players can spend unlimited time figuring out every possible risk of doing anything....madness.
