sleeping position change

ok, strange one, but my shoulder problems are aparently being made worse by how i sleep.
i sleep on my stomach or side but always have my arm under the pillow, i have tried to change positions but cant, any one any ideas that may help. thanks

I swear blind you have just typed that for me.

I have had major problems with this for over a year, although its not my shoulder its my side. I had scans checking far gallstones and in the end they decided it was a muscular issue causing it and I've been trying for over a year to change sleeping position and in the end I always revert back to what's hurting me through the night.

Ain't had a good night sleep in yonks.

tried the v shaped pillow the wife gave me last night, slept with it under my armpit so my side was on it but my arm through it, make any sense? head then on top too, and feels a bit better today, ie no stiffness this morn, long way to go, so keep trying it and see how it pans out :)

Great news. I should think it keeps the joint in a more stable position rather than have it hyper extended and with the weight of your head on it. Result!

As someone else mentioned, part of a video on the TPI site mentioned this.

Their suggestion was to wear a t-shirt in bed but with your bad shoulder's arm inside the shirt rather than in the sleeve.
Failing that hold it to your side with a belt!

Firstly I managed to persuade HID she'll be more comfy andlest prone to my snoring by using the spare room. Secondly I sleep on my back in a star fish postion. Lovely soft pillow, electric blanket now the temperatures are falling and no cold feet or stray elbows from the wife to keep me awake
