It's that time of year to renew my skycaddie subscription and while I was on there I saw the Skytrak monitor. At £1700 approx it seemed pretty good value for money compared to GC2 or Trackman. Has anyone ever used one and is it as accurate as they portray (Fish?). Still an awful lot of dough but I could see how it could be useful at a range or practice ground. Think given the choice of something like this or something attached to my shaft this would be a better (if much pricier) choice in my head. Or is it?

My dad has one and I'm currently looking into getting one myself. For the cost it's great, very accurate (plenty of review/comparisons online)

As with all launch monitors, waste of time using at the range with fake range balls though. I chopped and changed between real and range balls and saw 30yds between my drives.

Would be much better using it in a net with real balls.

Be aware, to get anything other than the 'range' option it's about £70 more a year, and then to get the courses is another £100odd on top of that.

Wouldn't be skycaddie if they didn't have a subscription fee!

Oh you also need an modern iPad to get it to work, unlike he gc2 which can work on its own.

It's creates its own wifi hotspot which the iPad connects to. As of yet you can use it on your phone effectively

For me the main stats I want out of a laugh monitor are swing path, launch angle, dynamic loft and face angle. I just cannot see the point in these ones that give just spin carry etc?

Still to pricey, but only going one way. Wasn't that long ago it was trackman or nothing.

For £1700 per year I would buy a car, and with the change I would have a nice holiday

Saw one at the range today. Not for me.

I can't see past it being a gimmick. Yes you can see the ball speed, spin rate, estimated carry, calculated club head speed, dispersion, but in reality, does any of this help?

Look at the ball flight. It tells you pretty much everything, for free.

A slice is a slice. Without knowing how to fix it, how does this help? It's just numbers, and a pretty picture.

Are you just going to comment on every thread that relates to price and comment that you don't spend anything on golf.

It's all a little boring to be honest

I have one. Linked up to a new ipad, which in turn is connected to a projector which puts the image on a screen in my cage net. It is absolutely superb.
My nearest range is half an hour away, so taking into account travel there and back and the time at the range, you are looking at 2 hours out of your day. The end result is I don't find the time often enough. With Skytrak on range mode I can practice anytime. It's accurate and while it's still a lot if money, it's a fraction of the cost of others of the same quality.
Any questions, just ask.

Hi mate, as mentioned, my dad has one and is currently building his lodge higher to accommodate a simulator.

Could you please send me some photos of your set up so that I can them to him? Would be really appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Would love to see pictures if you don't mind posting them.
I'm in the process of moving house, and a double garage with a high ceiling is on the list of requirements... Planning to put a weights gym with lifting platform and squat rack on one side, and a golf sim on the other!
Cars can live outside in the rain...

How are you hooking the iPad up to the projector?

image.jpgHere you go.
To connect the ipad to the projector, you just use a lightning to HDMI lead, connect the lightning plug to the charging point on the ipad and the HDMI to the input on the projector. As you can see, I put the ipad on a stand to make it more accessible to operate and switch between views, data etc.
