I took my Skycaddie 2.5 out of the bag recently to find the screen is cracked.
Contacted Skycaddie to obtain for free hopefully (or buy) a replacement screen.
Skycaddie say they dont supply individual screens and I need to send the unit to them who'll change it for £70. It's a tiny piece of clear perspex - £70 jeeez.
I aint paying that and I aint paying their £30 subs either.......grrrrr! Cannot afford ridiculous expense like that.
If anyone wants to make me an offer on the unit with broken screen and original box and cables etc I'm all ears!

Very disappointed in Skycaddie customer service, how hard would it be to supply a replacement screen.

Does seem a bit poor.

From their point of view they are probably thinking you'll A/ cave and send it in and pay £70 or better for them B/ buy a new unit.

Maybe if they get a whiff that your considering not keeping their service they might come up with a better deal?

Do you not get a replacement unit with another warranty for that £70? At least I thought it worked like that

Very poor indeed. Saw an SG5 brand new today for £167 but on hearing this Ill give it a miss.

I believe that is correct but it's still £70 either way for what is effectively a 2" x 2" bit of plastic. Talk about throwaway culture!

Hardly throwaway culture. They take your unit back and fix it and you get another one

Break you iPhone glass screen and Apple will replace it free of charge or give you a new iPhone.

Thats customer service when you compare a full glass screen compared to a piece of plastic.

Its not a 2 x 2 bit of clear perspex
its a miniature screen that has electronic stuff running through it

think of it as similar to a mobile phone screen,
If you think about it for a minute, How much would you have to pay to replace your phone screen

I dont think £70 is unreasonable considering parts , labour and postage

Was it skycaddie's fault that you broke the screen, ive dropped my skycaddie 2.5 a few times including the car park and it seems pretty robust to me. so it must have been quite a whack you gave it.
If it was a design flaw or a technical problem with the unit, of course they would have repaired or replaced it

We seem to be in a society where its always someone elses fault

Man up. you now know how much its going to cost to get it fixed, now decide to repair or replace, but please stop whineing about it

Fragger

I broke my Blackberry screen a while back and O2 wanted over £100 to replace it. A local shop did it for about £60

So with sky caddie not selling anywhere near the number of units you price is probably about the ballgame, although still robbery to me

Following on from earlier rant...
you can pick up a skycaddie 2.5 on fleabay for about £60-70

So if it were me, id buy a new one and ebay the existing unit for spares

Fragger....You Know It Makes Sense

Damn it, gonna do a Blue Peter job on it, some of you clearly have money to burn, I don't.

even if i really need to pay for something i still don't lol!!!i am really that tight, probably the fact i don't have the money...or atleast thats what she thinks ;)

I was thinking of changing my GPS device as well even though I don't have a broken screen issue. I'm thinking of getting one of the touch screen devices like this one so you can find out how far from A to B and figure it'll help when we are on temp greens as my SC can't give me that info

I'm not overly impressed with SC customer service either and to be honest the £30 per year is starting to irk

does it still work as it should?

Yes it does, the crack is like a snowflake, goes in all directions from the bottom left but the screen is still in one piece and it's readable enough, I'm going to have to live with it but I thought Skycaddie could have been more helpful.
