Skycaddie disappointed

I was thinking of changing my GPS device as well even though I don't have a broken screen issue. I'm thinking of getting one of the touch screen devices like this one so you can find out how far from A to B and figure it'll help when we are on temp greens as my SC can't give me that info

I'm not overly impressed with SC customer service either and to be honest the £30 per year is starting to irk

Homer: I have just bought the Shotmiser G700 for £239..NO FEES and for an extra £90, you can have a GPS for your car and even has a speed camera detector!

Used mine out here and they are brilliant. Tells you distances from where you are to anywhere on the course, just tap the screen and it tells you the distance to where you have tapped, not just the hazards. Have a look at it mate.

Why not just map the temps?

You have the technology?

Stu,
I had the same problem when my battery went SC wanted near £60 to replace it, had a look on ebay and picked one up for £15 very easy to fit and I would imagine the screen is the same.

Well the experience Ive had with Shotmiser is very disappointing! - I initially bought a recon G500 direct from Shotmiser - i had it a day didnt even get it to the course as it refused to power up after it was charged. I spoke to them and they offered me a deal on a new G700 - First round it needed two resets, the second round the backlight stopped working and then it refused to switch on. Its now gone back for a refund which I find really frustrating as I wanted to buy a british device and thought the software was quite good however reliability is awful. They havent actually fallen over themselves to help either , no apology and there's been no offer of refunding the postage on the 2 units Ive sent back which is £18. I previously had a Skycaddie SG3.5 which worked flawlessly! Why i changed it i will never know! Back to Skycaddie for me

I cant belive that i just want to change the battery in my sgx and these
People at skycaddie wont let me buy one!!!! They are playing hard ball
And charging for every little thing they can!!!! Its too much for me
Im in the new york area and spend to much for golf as it is!!! The sad part is im trying
To stick with skycaddie instead of lazer scoope which is more accurate and
100% cheaper!!!! They dont give u a choice!!!

Oooh, is this thread re-born?

I am NOT a happy bunny with skycaddie a.t.m.

My SG5 is behaving very oddly indeed. I haven't taken the time to fully look into this, but I fear it either needs an update or, to put it politely, it's cream crackered.

Now, from what I've heard, getting anything out of skycaddie is impossible, so the outlook is not good is it?

Takes ages to find the GPS signal (or whatever it uses).
Seems to think I'm on totally different holes at times.
Is about as accurate as a kid with a tape measure.....not even the same readings as everybody else's skycaddie.

Me worried. :(

Dave you aren't alone. Mine is doing daft things too. I'm tempted by the Garmin versions but they are very expensive but look the best in terms of functionality. Not sure what to do but trying to eek it out as best I can. Even the charger has died so have to charge it via the PC which is very slow

I know mate, bad news.

The other day I was 1,346 yards from the 13th green.

Interesting, as I was on the 4th. :(

I spent about three/four hours with technical support a sky caddie when my father in laws decidede to delete all his courses. A seriouly long drawn out process to fix it and when you pay 30 a year not worth it in my opinion.

I would recommend staying away from a sky caddie at all times, pain in the arse if ever there was one.

Homer,Tesco Direct do the Garmin G3 for £128! Not too expensive for a waterproof unit with no fees,I am getting one at the end of the month for sure!

I've had the exact opposite. I bought one second hand and after being dropped by a friend it goes off now when shaken or knocked. Quick email to them and they said it would be £50 to fix. Then inquired about possible upgrade. They offered me a good deal to switch to the G700. Looking forward to it in the post! btw how did it cost £18? I sent mine back to them and it cost £6 for special delivery from N.I?

Have to say this is not the experience I had with sky caddie (the sgx was about two years old) the battery went tits up, Sky caddie arrange for collection and replace the unit with a refurbish one FOC forgot to say the screen was cracked as well Great customer service

I have to say that my experience of Skycaddie is also very good. I tried to updated the software on my SGX but it froze and wouldn't reset so I emailed customer service and a courier arrived within an hour to collect it with a replacement delivered back to me 2 days later, all FOC(it was under warranty) :)

Now that's service!
