So im looking to get sky, but refuse to pay there scandallous prices, for quite frankly average tv. so just an enquiry, does any one on here work for them, or even know of any good deals? as ive gone thru it all and it says ill be paying £65 a month excluding there line rental.

im looking at the normal sort of channels

.entertainment
.sport

as well as

.broardband

really not to bothered about a phone, but im guessing ill have to get that too.

so who can hook me up :D

Greig is your man, if you want broadband you generally need the phone line. Expect to pay a discounted rate for 3 or 6 months then up to the full rate.

Normal package with HD, Sports (no movies) and broadband is around £80 or so.

Sorry - you want Sky but refuse to pay!

Guess you won't be getting Sky then!

You know the price like I do therefore you know what you have to pay can't see a problem.

lol, what? I'd love to hear who offers better services and tv!

All seems a bit odd.

I want Sky.. But refuse to pay the prices...
I want broadband.. But not bothered about the landline...

2 things you can't have without paying or having the other...

Go with Virgin if you don't want sky but expect to pay £50ish just for a basic package..

I have Sky+ HD, Sports, Entertainment Packs (all) phone and broadband, as well as Multi room. total cost is £73 a month. I only get it for that price as aget the loyal customer discount or it'd be £85 a month(due to multi room).

End of the day if you want the service you have to pay for it, nothing in life comes for free.

That might have worked in 'The Cable Guy', unfortunatley (well, for you) Engineers don't drive round with stacks of viewing cards in their van - they are mailed direct from sky to the customer.

I work for Sky but dont really get what you are asking here. Why would you want to pay even a reduced fee for something you class as frankly average. If its that bad you'd be better sticking to freeview.
And for that reason, I'm out.

I can see where he's coming from, £70 a month is a lot to be forking out but then also agree with the no one is forcing you to have it. You could always see if any of your mates who have sky will use their skygo account but just be careful on the download limit. Ryder Cup weekend saw me use 26Gb

all been sorted, it is average but id rather pay a cerain price for something than full price what idiot wouldnt? £21 a month for sky sports. is not reasonable .fact so instead of 75+ its now 45. which is more realistic.

thanks for your help guys means alot.

I currently get

Unlimited broadband
Free Weekend and evening calls
Line rental
All tv channels
Sky sports
Sky movies

All for £46 a month, that does include half price movies and sports and free line rental. But that's what you get or being a dedicated customer who says your leaving every 3-6 months.

Fair play to you buddy, one day they may just call your bluff though (it does happen) but never the less its a great deal you have.

Well done Don
I really get annoyed by the 'loyalty' companies show to their valued customers. You have to jump through hoops to get deals that they are offering others. They are all at it, from the Banks, Insurance and even institutions like The National Trust.
I really don't understand The National Trust doing it as, in a recession, I would have thought that keeping old members was vastly more important than seeking new members.

i have recently given up my sky,i was paying over £70 a month, a week after i cancelled and it was stopped they phoned me and offered the same package for £22-50 a month for 12 months!!!! so who was taking the proverbial for all these years.

I'm in the process of buying my first place and Sky is top of the want list. I've seen the basic package online for £45 - and I've not done a huge amount of research yet. But to add Sky Sports on for £20 and I'm interesting in the SkyGo stuff (which I thought was free?) I can see the price rising to more than gas, leccy and water each month...!

I have long been a customer of Sky, and as noted above was paying £73 a month for everything except for movies. My contract ranout on the 1st October so was going to free wheel on same price, that was until this lunchtime. Did a bit of looking around at the Sky package, and gave Virgin a call to see what they could do just purely out of interest. Low and behold i've just signed up with them for 18months, as after talking with them about what deal they could offer someone transfering from Sky they blew the same package Sky were willing to off me a long standing customer out of the water.

They are giving me the VIP Premier pack which is £60 a month and I will be getting

All entertainment packs including kids and music channels
Sky Sports (Full package)
Sky moveis (full package)
Phoneline rental and unlimited calls to all numbers (inc o8 & 03 codes)
2 x HD boxes for multiroom use
Fibre optic broadband with unlimited downloads.
and the icing on the cake £75 credit on my first bill for switching from Sky!

So a lot more for my bucks... Never even considered Virgin till now, but I;ve gone to the dark side..

EDIT: So ring Virgin and tell them your thinking of switching from Sky

Bit of a result then!! I have Virgin at home (parents place) and it's good, we don't have movies and don't really miss them. However, the whole Sky Go thing is something I'm interested in, but I guess multiroom does the same job (let HID watch Desperate Housewives whilst I take the iPad and watch the Golf).

TBH, the amount of options and packages out there is baffling!

Sky go is all well and good, but you'd be surprised at how little you actually use it in the end, as most employers have it banned, and it can really eat into your fair use policy settings on mobile devices.

But agree to many options to choose from/
