As most of you will know, Sky are putting their prices up again and as I was thinking about cancelling sky before this news, its looking a dead cert now.
So my question is...
Has anyone moved from Sky to BT TV and was it a good move.
I would like to add that I dont need Sky movies or Sky sports
Thanks in advance for any experiences, good or bad

In that case why do you want subscription telly if its not for the sports or movies? Most other stuff you can get easily enough.

I moved from Sky to BT when I moved house (mainly because I wanted BT for their rugby coverage).

Signed up for a 2 year deal that was on offer and best of all went through a cashback site so it essentially work out free.

The deal was for BB, Phone and TV, so not sure if that is what you're looking to do ?

I went from Sky to Virgin about 2 years ago on a 12 month deal that saw me save approx £50 a month for the first 9 months.

After the 9 months Virgin sent me news that my package was increasing to around what I was originally paying Sky.

I told them that was fine and would be moving back to Sky at the end of the 12 months deal.

A couple of days later i got a phone call advising me i had been selected for a new package deal that was for existing subscribers only - in effect i was getting kept on at the same rate as I had started with them.

In my personal dealings with them - these companies will usually (but not always) do what they can to keep you if you say you are moving to a rival

We cant get Virgin so not really an option. But thanks anyway

I have BT and it is 90% utter tripe.

The rugby is very good though.

Just got BT tv last week in order to get BT Sports channels, basic box thingy cost £49, no subscription and not paying anymore than I was for the standard broadband I was paying for before so I'm happy to get some sports to watch effectively free. Lots of European football, some premier league but not the bigger games, plenty baseball if that's your thing! Is streaming fine which ws my main concern, ok it isn't as good as Sky sports but I cannot get sky due to steep hill in way of satellite signal so BT has improved my viewing a bit, they also threw in AMC channel which has some decent US dramas on it. Youview is basically freeview with any sports or extras added in, there are all the apps and players organised via another button, pretty user friendly so far.

You know what word for word me or Missis T could of written that. The thing is we have BB and telephone with BT and get prem league football with BT sports.
we are deffo in the process of cancelling sky sports as they are losing Prem football, but now bigging up championship football, Er not bothered about "sloppy seconds" thank you. Golf and F1 (Yawn) al watch if nowt else is on.
Sky movies are Rammel. Proper dire. So that's going and might as well subscribe to Netflix.

Right Missis T has just had 10 mins with them and they did not offer us a deal fortunately. So will be cancelling both sports and films next month when the prem league finishes as when you cancel a package it is with immediate effect.
we will be staying with the family bundle at £38 a month. Down from £80 odd quid a month

Thanks everyone.
1.Sky cancelled
2. BT ordered
3. Upgraded fibre speed and free calls.
4. New Humax 4K 1TB hard disc recording
5. 500GB cloud
Total cost £25 per month LESS than I was paying before

It pays to talk

Surprised they didnt offer you a deal. I pay £40 per month with Sky for Family Bundle, Sky Sports, Unlimited Fibre BB and Phone Line.

Definitely agree with that! When I moved to Sky, I got a great deal online. I think 95%+ of people would have been happy with it. I gave them a call, and got another 15% off plus free installation. Wouldnt have happened without the call

I thought they had a deal until 2019?? Have I missed something?

My understanding was that they were able to turn the channels on immediately if you took out a new package but when you cancelled you had to wait for a month because you had already paid up front for the month ahead. Have they changed it?
