Ive got Sky+ and was working fine but now it doesnt show on the screen. Ive tried all the channels, turning the sky box off and on and pushing all the cables in correctly but with no success. Anyone know what could be wrong? Cheers.








PS before someone says it, ive turned the tv on :D
 
Sky+ boxes are tempremental things. I am on about my fourth Sky+ box and my second Sky HD Box. Not sure of the exact fault on yours, my problems were all down to the hard drive failing. Basically before they were set to shut down automatically, the hard drive was constantly winding and they would wear out pretty quickly. Have had several fail like that but there would be problems with the playback freezing before they died.
One thing I would say is never pay for a call out and repair. If you have been with Sky for a while and keep on at them they will eventually send a repair man out free.
 
Have you got different AV leads to try, maybe a connection fault in the terminal?

On the upside, there's nothing on tonight worth watching anyway :D

You can watch sky on the PC quite easily too.
 
The boxes need a reboot from time to time. Pull out the plug at the mains, leave for 30 seconds, plug in again and let it reboot. When you hear the hard disk whirring, use the remote to switch it back on from standby. There are also some hidden menus that you can fin on the net to do other diagnostics, but sometimes the box is buggered and needs replaced. Ring Sky and tell them you have had a problem and will be switching to Virgin and they will usually offer some decent solution.

Cycle power is definitely worth a try. If that doesnt work do this.

Unplug. Press and hold the backup button on the box (not remote) Whilst holding this down plug sky box back in. Keep down until you see a message appear on the screen. This forces a software update and has always worked for me.
