Sky sports

Sky are piggybacking onto the openreach fibre network that's rolling out

I'm sure they are paying for it and not just piggybacking. But at my last two addresses I've had Sky broadband and it's been rubbish and have always had better performance when moving to other providers.

That must be covered by the crowds under 500 clause.
Oh you cynic! Top level games get decent crowds, certainly better than some Scottish Championship games ;).
The chairman of St Helens (one of the most financially stable clubs in Rugby League) was on the radio this morning saying that without the income many clubs could really struggle. For my home team, the players are part-time so at least they have a job to fall back on. But I do wonder how much longer Rugby League can still put games on in the current climate.

The fibreoptic rollout should be treated as infrastructure. If Virgin put a cable in they only allow Virgin, same with TalkTalk and Openreach allow BT, Sky and one other. You could effectively have 6 cables laid along a street all dug up at 6 different times. In practice once one or two are in the other providers won't bother. The joys of the free market

When I was a season ticket holder at the Rhinos before I moved up to Scotland we would regularly get 18k+ and 21or 22k for the Bulls or Saints games.

Tend to agree. I'm amazed Sky have not more aggressively moved away from the Dish and box technology. They must spend millions on this infrastructure a month, compared with investing that into a fibre or 5G network that customers could use.

They obviously made a decision a while ago that they weren't going to pay into the fibre network and as a result their broadband is rubbish.
I think that Sky are waiting for a better broadband infrastructure and gradually move everything to that. It's still a pain when it's heavy weather and you lose the signal.
I moved to Sky Broadband when I got a deal from them for the whole package and dumped TalkTalk (who I will NEVER go back to again, worst customer service).
They all use the same line so the speed is pretty much the same. The TalkTalk Router was faster on 2.4G but less reliable.

I called Sky on Wednesday last week and cancelled my sports and movies as it was coming to the end of a fixed term agreement. When he told me it would go on 11th April I think as gutted as this was midway through the masters. Glad I didn’t try and extend it now.
Can’t imagine they will offer refunds as the channels are still broadcasting and are there for your viewing pleasure (just not live). I can imagine there will be similar requests / grumbles re Sky Movies when their deal with Disney ends and all their IP moves across to Disney+ streaming service.

Sky is a sinking ship..this sports issue could finally kill them off

Their movies have been hit by Disney taking all their own copyright and providing their own service for a reasonable price

Netflix are brilliant for a reasonable price

Now TV is owned by sky and starting to offer things but still expensive at least you can cancel

Anyone told sky if you offer for better value you will get more customers and make more money?

This Morning, Loose Women, Homes under the Hammer, with a sprinkling of Columbo, what a fun packed day ??

Just sat through an episode of Dont Tell the Bride, world is falling apart.

SKY have just announced a range of measures to subscriptions relating to corona virus including suspending SKY sports without a notice period.

why are sky not throwing money at the likes of Rory, koepka, Rahm etc to live stream from separate locations playing against each other on simulators?

im not up on the latest tech or video games out there, but you could surely have a bunch of these guys playing a skins game or the like on a virtual Augusta without too much hassle?

if this thing lasts as long as some are predicting and there is no other competitive golf out there to be had, they could do a full on virtual tournament?

i would watch, and fairly sure others would too. Let’s face it, there’s bugger all else on and you can only watch repeats of feherty and best of the open zone so many times!

just a thought, open to discussion......

I'd guess like thousands of businesses Sky are scrambling to try and make sure there's still a business afloat after this is past rather than throwing money at golfers when many thousands are cancelling their subscriptions every day

I've just renewed my Sky package but I can apparently suspend the sports package online soon, they are saying to check from tomorrow
