Sky Sports is it Racist and Prejudiced against the Scots????

I have never been to Scotland but after watching that program I am thinking of taking a long weekend away with the wife. It may or may not be St Andrews to which the wife does not know yet!!

Parmo, do go to St Andrews but on your way there nip round the coast road and pop down to the beach carpark at Kingsbarns, nice wee beach but also a coastal path where you can wonder at Kingsbarns links.
Then go up to St Andrews, bag a couple of those caramel filled donut things they are famous for and wander down to the Old Course, lean on the railings by the 18th green and watch a few groups play the 18th and also see the folk going off the 1st. It's hard to describe but I guess only a golfer knows the feeling! I stand there and watch for ages, take in the sea air, I kid you not it really is a special place if you are a golfer. All those images like Sanders missed putt, Sevvy's fist pumps in 84, Rocca's fluff and subsequent hole out from the Valley of sin. You owe it to yourself to get up there.
ps Nip back via Crail harbour on a Saturday and you can get lobsters prepared from live once the fella has stopped scaring the tourists with them!
I spent 2 weeks in the East Neuk of Fife last summer and having been pretty well travelled in my younger years I can honestly say it was one of the best holidays I've had. A golfers paradise!
Put your name in the ballot for the Old Course, might get lucky. There is plenty shopping for the wife whilst you tackle the Old Lady! ;)

Sounds wonderful, my Antie and uncle just moved to Oz but lived in Inverness, my uncle was loving golf up there and I wish I had visited clubs in hand at the odd weekend.

I read so much about the feeling on the first that even know typing it I have goose bumps lol, one day I will.

you won't catch an Englishman saying " boo hoo they didn't show our boys, it's not fair. everybodies racist except us"
...for obvious reasons as the OP pointed out

No, it's because we're not all paranoid!
Nope, it's because it doesn't happen.

I was driving home on the day Gordon Brown won the Labour leadership and of course the PM job along with it. The radio was full of "we don't want a Scot running the country, we havn't even voted for him" (funny of course that they'd all missed Blair's national credentials)

I would think that shows up your claim as baseless, it was one of the rare occasions where the shoe was on the other foot, and the feelings of the public was clear to all. Not a one said they thought he was a bad choice for any reason other than his nationality.

Parmo, if you go in the summer, and it is a short one, blink and you'll miss it, you will get bitten to death by midges, and the rest of the year it is cold and wet.

That said, if the rain ever stops, and the fog ever lifts, it is beautiful, and believe it or not, the people can be quite friendly too.
Here in Spain they think we Scots are a friendly bunch. They hate the English, however. But when I think about it the Spanish hate the French, the Americans, the Basques, the Catalans etc. etc. etc.

This whole post is ridiculous, the only reason i replied in the first place is because of this farcical PC culture we're currently living in, it is pathetic and it winds me up.

you can't say or do anything nowadays for fear of offending somebody and the original post proves this perfectly!

Alistair Forsyth's lack of coverage had absolutely nothing to do with where he was from and everything to do with him not being an established name with millions and millions of pounds worth of sponsorship attached to him.

it is not a race/culture issue at all, it is a financial one by the sponsors/media companies.

if you don't like the coverage Sky gives cancel your subscription and let them know why.
but it won't make a bit of difference to them.

Lack of coverage of Scottish football etc. has nothing to do with being good or bad it has everything to do with being attractive to sponsors and the revenue they can create from it.

I am not anti scots but stop blaming everyone else if your sports don't get the coverage you think they deserve, it's not done just to wind you up north of the border.

I agree the Spanish are racist born and bred, goes back to the Fraco days, as the saying goes "you can take the people from Franco, but you can not take the Franco out of the people".

I know I used to live there, very corrupt and racist country, mind you they need the British more than they need the Spanish.

Thanks guys that was fun

asy solution is be like me........ Hate EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a lot of scottish friends, what with being in their annexed county.
My best mate spends a fortune (yes i know he's supposed to be a scot and tight :D
He hails from St Andrews and his uncle still lives a wedge from the course and I keep telling him that he needs to visit his relatives more often and have even offered to drive him up but so far it has proved fruitless. You are such a selfish lot :p

Toony,no smilies????????? On The Craws side here ........have met alistair a couple of times(last time was in Munich airport after the German open ad said to him that he done well at U.S Open.He was so open and honest about his hopes for the the P.G.A.)A really nice guy!I think we could all underate him!

Now I know why I didn't bother making any posts in this thread before now... the subject is too much of a hot potato. Just as my opinion is to let Monty have a bit of piece , especially as he appologized to the technician in question etc. I really think all this talk about sky being whatever, as far as pejudice is sheer nonsense. occasional bad directorial decisions on the part of the company filming the event wherever in the States etc has nothing to do with Sky, who mearly add the commentary & wit to the moving pictures.

As for the smokies, perhaps the herrings are red..lol

Though I do have a hankering for a trip up to Craster etc in Northumberland.
