Parmo
Tour Winner
I have never been to Scotland but after watching that program I am thinking of taking a long weekend away with the wife. It may or may not be St Andrews to which the wife does not know yet!!
Parmo, do go to St Andrews but on your way there nip round the coast road and pop down to the beach carpark at Kingsbarns, nice wee beach but also a coastal path where you can wonder at Kingsbarns links.
Then go up to St Andrews, bag a couple of those caramel filled donut things they are famous for and wander down to the Old Course, lean on the railings by the 18th green and watch a few groups play the 18th and also see the folk going off the 1st. It's hard to describe but I guess only a golfer knows the feeling! I stand there and watch for ages, take in the sea air, I kid you not it really is a special place if you are a golfer. All those images like Sanders missed putt, Sevvy's fist pumps in 84, Rocca's fluff and subsequent hole out from the Valley of sin. You owe it to yourself to get up there.
ps Nip back via Crail harbour on a Saturday and you can get lobsters prepared from live once the fella has stopped scaring the tourists with them!
I spent 2 weeks in the East Neuk of Fife last summer and having been pretty well travelled in my younger years I can honestly say it was one of the best holidays I've had.A golfers paradise!
Put your name in the ballot for the Old Course, might get lucky. There is plenty shopping for the wife whilst you tackle the Old Lady!![]()
Sounds wonderful, my Antie and uncle just moved to Oz but lived in Inverness, my uncle was loving golf up there and I wish I had visited clubs in hand at the odd weekend.
I read so much about the feeling on the first that even know typing it I have goose bumps lol, one day I will.
