Couple of pics from Silloth on Thursday. Shows that even a links track can struggle to drain after months of incessant rain!

Similar size lake on the 11th, meaning a temp green about 100 yards short of the normal green, the 12th was out of action on Thurs due to another lake in front of the green but should be back on now. The lakes are now the biggest they have been all winter. Apart from these and another couple of smaller areas the course is not in bad nick considering. Trouble is 2013 has started off as 2012 left off and the water collecting in the low spots at the far end of the course has nowhere to go as it runs towards the field on the RH side of the photo of the 10th and this field is flooded. There are 2 large pumps trying to shift the water but it keeps raining. It needs 2 or 3 dry weeks to help get rid off the standing water but when we get these is anyone's guess.

I will keep you up to date on conditions over the next few weeks.

This weather is crazy. The coast road that runs parallel to Birkdale and hillside has been flooded for about the last 6 weeks.with it being on sand You'd think it would subside as soon as the rain stopped, but the water table is now that high it's going nowhere.
Looks like a similar situation up there at Silloth.

Wow. I was a member there for 4 or 5 years and I don't think I ever saw standing water at all.

Ethan, members of over 60 years have not seen it like this. Problem is it has not stopped raining since June and the water table is so high the water has nowhere to go. Even in August for the English Amateur there was an area on the edge of the 7th fairway marked as a water hazard due to standing water.

Valentino, the green staff are doing everything they can to get rid of it, just need a dry spell!

Played today, overnight frost so we were on temp greens and the lakes from the other day were frozen over. Greenstaff out with theodalites (sp?) working out where the lowest part of the course in preparation of attempting to shift some of the water with pumps.

Took a couple of quick general snaps, the 9th green looking over the Solway to Southerness and up the 1st after we had finished. Not the best angles but too many layers on.....

Wednesday's game @ the Glen has been called off so we're in the same boat

Not for long though, you have plenty of choice up there and you have Kilmarnock coming up as well. No choice here, not even the range!!

Might book into the Travel Lodge Glasgow opposite Harry Ramsdens for a few days and try some of your courses out ;)
