How you going to use a V-easy with that.....

Craw, don't worry about it too much, you will figure out a fix in no time, be it a grip change, stance change, weight adjustment in stance, hell even a shovel handled putter might relieve the pain. It could be much worse, you could be timgolfy, the big hitting,touch-of-a-rapist son of a gun who is the only man I know that hits provisional putts.

Take up the offer of the Rotella book. It is remarkable how much can be written about something so fundamentally simple. But the book is insightful, thought provoking and informative.
One of the best anecdotes is Seves comment about a 4 putt "I putt, I miss, I putt, I miss, I putt, I miss, I putt I hole.", which I believe someone here has in their sig. Seve does not beat himself up about it at all, but gets on with the round. That is a mental state to aspire to.
A more tangible change which has helped me hugely is to shorten the backswing on the short putts. Less to go wrong, and it is easier to follow through square to the hole.

Played tonight armed with a Zen Oracle Tour 48" broomhandle putter which I got from WhoGivesA. Nine holes teeing off at 1930 and off the course at 2100 with darkness just beaten and no more.

A two putt bogie on the first from 12 feet was not really a surprise. I skipped onto the par 5 4th where I had a great 2 putt from about 30 feet knocking the first putt stiff. Up and down from behind the 5th where I rolled in a 4 footer to save par which really gave my confidence a boost. 2 birdies and two bogies plus 5 pars saw a level par 9 hole excercise tonight which has restored a bit of faith and confidence on the greens.

Tomorrow will be a big test as I have a tie and I'm giving 9 shots!

After my putting woes on Saturday where I turned a good round into a .1 increase thanks to my frailties with the short stick I ventured onto the course last night with a fresh approach eager to put the deamons to bed.

To cut a long story boring I left the course last night looking for a box of matches and a petrol can to set fire to a full bag of woods, irons and more importantly a putter (and a V-Easy ).

15 greens in regulation resulted in 42 putts and a hatred for the game I once loved. Can you ever re-discover the love? This happened to me once before (98, or 99 I think) and I chucked the game for a total of 4 months before being tempted back but this time with a young family and other interests is it time to just bite the bullet?

What is the point in continuing when you know that no matter what your game wont improve and you simply cant overcome your achillies heel?

Thoughts?

And what was it you keep telling me about not taking it too seriously. Just get out and play or if it is bothering you that much practice, get a new putter or whatever. You don't pay the bills playing and the ball striking hasn't gone.
