I have a pair of Adidas shoes and have to say I’m very disappointed that after around eight months the heal lining has gone near where your Achilles sits; this is now giving me blisters.

Has anyone else had the same? And as comfortable as my Adidas shoes are I don’t really feel like investing another £60 or so on a pair of shoes every eight months so can anyone recommend a brand / shoe to try?

If you either google or search this site you will see this is a regular problem with Adidas shoes, I went through 3 pairs in several months before finalling switching brands. Best pairs Ive had of late have been from Nike (Tour Premium though a lot of people rave about the Lunars) and the best by far have been the Puma Cell Fusion 2s, next pair I buy will more than likely be Pumas

Yep had this with 2 pairs and have known others to have the same. Shame as they're otherwise a really good shoe and I have problematic neuromas on my feet and Adidas tend to be kind to them!

Ecco are what you want to try.

True they are a bit more expensive, but worth it in the long run.

I've had my Hydromax Tour for just over 2 years never let any water in and the leather quality is far better the FJ.

Adidas look very good but I have never found them v waterproof and I too have had issues with blisters and the heel disintergrating. Im on Nike lunars at the mo which are comfy but the toe is starting to flake already. Im ready to
invest in Eccos for the summer I think heard some good things and plenty of choice of style :)

I have had the same problem with Adidas heal cushioning disappearing which is a shame because they are one of the wider shoes and otherwise fit better than other makes. For this reason i tried to switch to Puma and this was a disaster as although they felt comfortable in the shop the same heal area was a nightmare after playing - it was so touch I was really bruised around the achilies.

I am back with Adizeros to see how these shape up but these are my 4th pair of black shoes (adidas poor waterproofing heel disintegration, Puma heal cripplers, Footjoy too narrow) so fingers crossed

Another in the Ecco camp. The most comfy shoes on the market.

And another. Extremely good fit, well made & comfortable. The only non-Ecco pairs of shoes I have now are the Stuburt Darren Clarkes.

The one golf shoe I could never get on with were Nike, which surprised me as I have never had problems with their trainers, so was expecting better.

I have 2 pairs off Adidas shoes, Black and White, had them a couple of years. Black ones have only leaked when I was out playing in what became a Monsoon that had everything wet right down to my undercrackers, the shoes only let water in from the top where my trousers were sodden.
With regards to the heels failing I have always used a shoe horn when putting them on which has obviously prevented this from happening.

I've had 2 pairs of Lunars last year and both leaked and went back. I'll be looking at either Puma's or Ecco's for this summer.

I have had issues with Adidas which is why I have a preference for FJ. I do like the look of the Adizero and may be tempted to give them another bash especially as early reports from the Fab 4 seem favourable

They've been on their feet 8 hours, not 8 months ;)

Got to say I've had my Ecco coolmaxes for two years now and they still look good and are still keeping the water out and considering the amount of time in the rough that's no mean feet!! Haha well worth the extra expense

I find the issue with the addidas shoes is the insole. It is too spongy, giving too much up and down movement, which wear the heal liner, and gives blisters. Chuck this away, and replace with a different liner, and bingo, great shoes, comfortable, water proof, etc.

That said, Ecco from now on.

I've always been an Adidas man for shoes in various sports with the only exception being golf where they seem to be completely unreliable, I still get tempted by them eg the Adizeros but I always talk myself out of it because of the history of not being waterproof and disintegrating. Odd as all the other types I've had, from footie boots to marathon running trainers to hockey 'astros' have been brilliant. For golf I stick to my trusty FJs.
As a summer job, admittedly many years ago, I worked in a shoe shop and Ecco were head and shoulders above the competition in terms of quality of materials, comfort and longevity. You do pay for it, but they seem to be worth it and will be the only option to replace the FJs, unless I go mad and try the Jimenez styleee Nebuloni offering.
