I used to love browsing irons, woods drivers etc.

Now I just cannot get excited about new gear, I like my current equipment and nothing out there turns my head.

Has something happens in the last 5 years? Is it all just saturated with OTT aesthetics and marketing terms?

Bring back the days of clean looking clubs I say! And while they are at it make them suitable for all levels ;)

I don't really value aesthetics in golf clubs. I very rarely ever look at a club and think "that looks nice" - I only really care whether they do their job! Although on the flipside, I do recognise when a club looks really ugly, ha.

The only club I'd currently consider buying (unless replacing due to damage) would be a brand new Persimmon driver. There's a firm still knocking out new ones for about 350 squid and they do look nice and I like the idea of hitting it. But like the OP when you've got gear from anytime in the last 5 years or so the 2019 stuff doesn't seem to appeal

(I'm not interested in hitting some manky 40yr old persimmon club bought at a boot-sale)

I like the new Taylormade P7TW irons, but not at £1600, and also not with X400 shafts. All for authenticity, but no good to me.

I do. Has to have a reasonable top line looking down. I got a custom fit for G25's and looking down at a 9 iron or PW on a chip and I hated it. Got in my head and I changed/upgraded to a CF set of I25's

I kind of sit half way between both of you here. Long irons even down to a 6 or 7 iron, I don't much care what it looks like from above if anything a chunkier looking club inspires confidence. But I get down to an 8 iron or below and like Homer it's about a nice top line than inspires the desire to hit a crisp iron shot and chip.

I've found since coming back to the game there isn't much that makes me think wow.. If anything I now prefer to look at irons and clubs that aren't by the big OEMs of TM, Callaway, Ping etc. I like the new Wilson clubs and Benross clubs things that make people have the chance to afford something of decent quality as most gear is so expensive now I couldn't justify it to Mrs wolf and our kids. So for me it's either the 2 brands I've mentioned or an Ebay/2nd hand deal somewhere.

I like the look of the older Ping S models which are more "bladey" but doubt I can do them justice in terms of strike. If anything, I am deviating the other way and considering more and more game improver types and then perhaps looking at a specialist wedge in PW loft to get over my dislike of the thick top line.
