ok granted we havent had a holiday in 2 years, but i have just got off the phone with the misses about a holiday in august, please bare in mind im self employed which means closing my business for a week IE no income.

ME - "ok, but im taking my clubs for atleast one game"
HID - " if we go for ten day ok, but if not no"
Me - " only one round and you can drive the buggy so your not at the hotel alone"
HID - " nope, 10 days or no golf "
Me - " ok f*** it, we'll go for a week and ill have a 3 day holiday with the lads somewhere else "

now given the fact ive just knocked back 5 days in spain golfing with a group of 15 lads because i know she derserves a break, who is being unrealistic.........

I generally OK on holiday. As long as my wife has sun, a pool and a decent supply of coctails then she would not even notice if I was gone for 5 hours.

I played last year in Mexico and she drove the cart. It was great having a caddy. She wasn't too impressed when on the third hole there was 2 crocodiles laying at the side of the fairway haha

It's all about give and take on holiday, I don't ask to play golf and she doesn't ask to sit in front of a telly in the hotel room or a bar watching her soaps. They, like golf, can wait for a few days until we get back then it's life as usual.

Never mixed family and golf holidays and it helps to understand that to a woman give & take means you give, they take, fact of life you just got to accept.

Fortunately I have a wife who wouldn't ask the question. She quite likes doing her own thing and as cash is tight, the best we'll do this year are some long weekends. Now if I could combine that with a forum day (or as a guest of a forum member) HID would no doubt go off and do the historical bit she likes or visit some local attraction. As long as I was back to share an evening meal etc she'd be happy. Forget the lottery - I struck gold

I've never played on holiday but do get grief for playing, and can certainly relate to the "tone in which it's said" comment!

I dont try and take the mick about playing, once a week, as we have got a baby but it annoys me, like i should feel guilty for doing something i enjoy!
