Shells World of Golf

Tiger v Nicklaus does have a certain cachet about it. I'd like to have seen Tiger v Seve and seen how he'd have dealt with the Spaniard scoring from all over the place. Would have been the battle of the short game as neither would have hit many FIR's

On a slight tangent, I caught the end one of the BBC pro-celebrity games from the 70's and 80's. It was with some American actor and I couldn't decide what was worse. The dodgy production and coverage, the fashion or the guys inability to play

I remember a pro-celebrity match years ago, with an actor from Mission Impossible. He was terrible, and it transpired that he had never played before. I think after that they checked more closely on playing ability and handicaps.

I occasionally catch some of these but the old ones are quite hard to watch when you've got used to HD. Shame because those guys could play.

I remember the old pro-celebrity stuff with Peter Allis and they used to get top names like Trevino, Watson and Weiskopf playing at places like Turnberry and Gleneagles. I suppose there was less money in the game then so even these matches made a bit extra for the pros. Always reckoned they probably gave some of the dodgier celebs plenty of mulligans. Seem to recall they had a sort of GB vs USA series one time.

As for match ups, would love to see some of the greats from the pre TV days like Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen or Henry Cotton up against any of the current crop. Or, for sheer theatre, Arnie vs Seve

Faldo vs. Mcilroy

Not sure whether they have gone head to head or not.

I just reckon it would be cool as Mcilroy played through the Faldo series.

Ash!!
