Caught a bit of this last night, they had Faldo v Norman from 1994, great watching these guys from past days, dont know why the series/format was ever dropped.

If time/era was not a factor, who would you like to see go head to head?

Hogan v Woods for me, cant see there being much friendly banter though!

It would have to be Woods v Nicklaus to see who is the best

One of my favorite in the series was Nick Price v Els Price was out hitting Els all day although Els won in the end

What about a forum version?

How about - Just one v Smiffy

Stack and tilt v White strides, match only goes to the 12th due to punch up!

Any other's??

Would love to see Trevino against Tiger!!

Could Tiger cope with the incessant banter from Supermex? Would like to see it using equipment from Trevino`s day too with balata balls and true blades. What an exhibition of shot making we`d see.

Was home at lunchtime and there was one with Price V Norman. Only watch it if its a course i would be interested in playing, but usually its somewhere in the states.

I watched Roberto DeVicenzo v Tom Weiskopf at some goat track in Morocco filmed during the mid sixties. It looked a right tip, the bunkers looked like somebody had just dumped a pile of sand in the middle of the "fairways". I say "fairways"....you see better looking rough nowadays!
Was funny watching them hit drivers at 340 yard par 4's where today they would hit irons.
Course was still a goat track though. And the spectators were a tribe of locals who stood grinning at the camera and just moved left or right to stay in shot.

Are you sure it wasn't at Lydd?

Watched one from the 60's a few months ago (can't remember the golfers).

First guy walks up to the tee, takes of his sunglasses, give his caddy his fag, hitches his cardie and whacks a tiny headed wood right down the middle.

The very definition of

Nope.
"Cool" would have been keeping the fag hanging out of your mouth.
I've done it loads of times
;)

Me too!

I always wondered if it breaks the rules?

My playing partner very often hits with a fag hanging, he reckons when his left shoulder burns he has completed his backswing properly

Tiger v Nicklaus does have a certain cachet about it. I'd like to have seen Tiger v Seve and seen how he'd have dealt with the Spaniard scoring from all over the place. Would have been the battle of the short game as neither would have hit many FIR's

On a slight tangent, I caught the end one of the BBC pro-celebrity games from the 70's and 80's. It was with some American actor and I couldn't decide what was worse. The dodgy production and coverage, the fashion or the guys inability to play

I love to watch these old programmes and see how good they were especially when you see the conditions of fairways and greens compared to those of today to say nothing of the equipment. We are spoilt.
The early ones took about a week to film as there were only a couple of cameras, so the players had to wait while the cameras were moved between shots and from hole to hole.
