Just when I feel confident that he is going to win one of the big ones this year he decides to forget how to use his putter. Just turned on Golf Night and he has pulled his last 3 shots within 5 foot.

I really do like the way he plays and him as a person but he will never win a major unless he sorts his short game out.

Anyone think he will win a major this year?

He'll win nothing if he putts like that.

As an aside, what about Jiminez hitting the flag from the bunker and ending up back in the bunker.

I'm not sure what the answer is for him. I presume he has been to the putting gurus for lessons and advice and so it is purely a mental rather than mechanical problem. Sad to see and not sure where he goes from here

I think he can and will win a major - he's too good not to. Just because he's had a bad day with the putter doesn't mean he's back to square one again. Make a judgement in a few weeks time. YOu don't get to be No2 in the world just like that!

If you recall when Paddy took the open at Carnoustie it ws because Sergio lipped out on a putt and he put his in.

He will def win a major though, he has plenty of tour wins and is second in the world, if he fixes his putting he'll be a force!

I think the only opportunity he has of winning a major is The Open. For the reason that the greens arent as undulating nor as fast as the Masters, the US Open or usually the PGA. I think it is his only hope so he only has a 1 in 4 chance every year which seriously reduces his odds.

Hence his current tally : NIL

I along with others have noticed Sergios probs with putting for a while now, for what its worth I think he should take his putting to someone completely new to him and his crowd as whatever he is getting now isnt working. I always wish for this chap that it comes togeather as I think hes brilliant and a better golfer than many who have beaten him recently so I wish him well.

It is such a shame his putting stroke lets down his ball striking which lets face it is second to very few indeed. So often he hits a great drive, a beautiful irons shot and then messes up the birdie putt. It really is a shame.
