Scottish Fitba'

Yes. Maybe drive the idiots away. Wishful thinking I know but there's too many of the "young team" that need to understand actions have consequences.

A bit like the two that tried it on with me and my mate at the taxi rank on Saturday night.
St Johnstone has a ‘young team’. Fair City United. They are not huge in numbers - 50-75 most matches. They beat the drum and make a lot of noise. It can be irritating at times, but at other times they do bring life to what can be a pretty moribund East Stand at McDiarmid.

That said they let off flares at the recent Raith game in Kirkcaldy that has seen the club fined. The club has put out a strong warning to the FCU that the behaviour is absolutely unacceptable - reminding them that the club is providing Rail-seating/standing for them to encourage more young folk to come along - their noisy support is appreciated, but they have a responsibility to the club in return.

I think we're talking about slightly different type of "young team". I'm referencing what we would once call casuals. Or at least, this lot think they are.

I'm thinking that that's the case. The Perth FCU do the dressing in black thing but I think that they are pretty harmless - unlike current day evolution of the 80s casuals...and the Aberdeen mob were trouble.

A few fans on the pitch nothing to worry about. Well maybe sometimes..but not when it's Rangers and Celtic who are involved. And it isn't just the events that happened on the pitch. Let's not ignore or gloss over the vile sectarian singing and chanting throughout the game and the fighting outside the ground and in the city that followed...

Saying it's 'hardly something to worry about' is a big part of the problem.

People moan about passion being sucked out of football but the Old Firm stands above all other games for that passion remaining intact. Yet the same people complain about that. It's just a load of waffle.

Police Scotland set a trap and took a day off so they could turn around and blame the fans. The trouble was 100% down to Police incompetence.

Care to expand on this? I’m no fan of how football matches are policed, but to say the police were 100% to blame for what took place on Sunday is a mind-blowing statement.

Did the police wave the fans on to the pitch? Did they suggest the opposition fans should join them?

The fans are adults making their own decisions. This was purely on them, not the police.

There seemed to be an awful lot of police there, in one still photo I counted 15 mounted police and over 30 officers in one small corner of the pitch.
The SFA tried to involve more away fans at games after a spell of reasonable behaviour [probably due to Celtics dominance]
Clearly did not work so back to the 'no away fans' rule.
I can't see how you could possibly blame the police for the fans reactions.

Did the SFA had change anything? I thought its been unchanged at around a 20% allocation to away team for years
League games have a much smaller 'away' allocation (prob due to number of season ticket holders, but that's not an issue for cup games)

I think this is confusing passion with abject stupidity, indoctrinated hatred and unharnessed sectarianism.

Some, not all. Not enough to excuse what happened.

If some were kids, why did they think that behaviour was acceptable? Where do they get idea from? Still not the fault of the police 🤷
I am not blaming the police. The idiots are to blame. I do feel that the sfa are partly to blame also by allowing a larger allocation in.

All this “both as bad as each other” is disingenuous.

There was only one set of fans trying to attack the opposition.
There was only one set of fans destroying the stadium. The despicable graffiti, celebrating those who died in the Ibrox disaster turns my stomach.

But, I think the people (me included) who made the original comment meant in general that sections of the Rangers and Celtic support are as bad as each other.

These “ultra groups” need banned from every stadium.
