Scottish Fitba'

Agreed. Perhaps Celtic should be spending the cash they’ve collected rather than banking it to help with the coefficient.
Personnel wasn’t the issue. With the squad we have, we should have beaten them comfortably. It was the safety first possession based system that Rodgers persists with. The players first instinct is to play it square or backwards, “don’t lose possession” is obviously drilled into them.

Never heard anyone say this before. Is this just in Europe?

No, its been like this for the last 6 months. We started last season playing great, but the second half of the season was a grind. Scottish cup final was a case in point.

RCH passes to LCH. LCH passes it back to RCH. RCH passes to McGregor. McGregor gives him it back. RCH passes back to GK. GK passes to RCH. And repeat. It’s painful to watch.

Personnel is part of the issue, especially up front. Celtic play chicken in the transfer market every year and especially when we have a qualifier.
It will never change because that's the way DD wants it.

Even if we had brought a new striker in, we would still be playing the same risk averse possession football.

Who were/are the goal scoring threats and the guys who created chances. Currently with Forrest and Yang as the wingers are just not good enough. Forrest can't beat a man anymore and I am not sure what he offers to the team apart from a squad player to rest who should be first choice.

Yang has pace but has nothing else, No execution no idea what he wants to do with the ball.

Maeda currently looks off the boil - Perhaps wanting a move elsewhere and isn't fussed on getting the same form back as last year?

We desperately need 3 wingers who are going to create and bring pace and skill to the team. A LB to offer a back up to KT/Competition, I would argue a young RB as Ralston just isn't up to being a first choice in that side. Then lastly a striker as Maeda through the middle isn't the best option, Idah just seems to be not cutting it with all the chances he should be getting in matches.

Was a bleak watch these past two games as we had no intent on getting the ball forward and whipping low balls into the box.

agree with all of that.

I'd give Donovan a run at RB, he has looked decent, him and Murray were the only positives last night.

Agree Donovan looks like he has some sort of game. Would like to see him get a run and see if he gets the confidence to want to beat a man which we don't seem interested in doing.

Murray looks like he has matured and can be a good squad player. I would prefer to see Trusty over Scales in the main side. Not quite sure what BR seems in Scales that Trusty hasn't got and more.

Bang on. There's so many positions in the team that needs attention and our transfer dealings can only be described as woeful. James Forrest was a 4th choice winger 3 years ago now at 34 years of age is first choice. Scales was nearly out the door 3 years ago for half a million and now is first choice. Yang hasn't beaten a man since he arrived and now plays regularly.
Celtic knew Kyogo was wanting away 13 months ago, probably knew Kuhn was wanting away six months ago.
The recruitment has been poor for a while with a few exceptions. This summer we've signed 6 players. One is a third choice keeper and two look like they are 4th and 5th choice striking options. Two left backs, one can't play 90 minutes and the other the manager doesn't rate. The one that does play is OK but I wouldn't say he has drastically improved the team.
All this with a mountain of cash in the bank .

I am starting to think that because they know Rodgers will very likely be away at the end of the season they are reluctant to give him decent money to spend..
They gave him 25mill to spend on Idah, Engels and Trusty and they have been pretty poor... There may be a player in Engels but we ain't seen it yet..
His signings in general over this spell have been very poor... Holm, Tilio, Yang, Nawrocki....
Kuhn, McCowan and Jota have been about the only decent ones..
I think the board are now thinking.. Keep money in the pot for a new manager next year.. As long as we stay above rangers we can appease the support....🤔.

That could be the case but history shows us that we are usually slow in signing players. I'm also not sure how much of the signing process is down to the manager or the recruitment team. I remember one winger we signed and when asked Rodgers said he didn't know much about him.

Listened to much of a Celtic podcast (20 Minute Tims). If the thinking of the three guys on the game last night, and on Celtic since the Bayern game, is typical…oh dear…not at all happy, not happy at all.

As one of the guys said…“Lost out on £50m, with £80m in the bank”

That rather summarises the massive frustration, despair and anger on display

Just seen the Rangers result…oh dear. Not surprisingly the guys on the Celtic podcast were of the mind that beating Rangers in the league or for the title is actually no consolation whatsoever, or indeed even a big deal (other than the usual tribal gloating) given how poor Rangers are - and that was before this evening.

Interestingly perhaps, in their despair, the Celtic podcast guys mentioned, to their evident horror, that Kairat Almaty are (or at least were before dumping Celtic out) beneath St Johnstone in the European club rankings.🤣
