Look for a magic eye extender. Also, get an old sky box with valid viewing card (ie your old pre HD one) and hook directly to your satellite.
New one on me, you can get a Hdmi to cat5/6 adaptor now. You can transmit the sound and audio via cat5 to where ever you want it In the house! Then you just use the sky+ app on the iPhone as the remote control! (Beware, if you choose porn down stairs and the mrs is in bed watching tv, she will know what you are up to!)
Reminds me, got through to babe station last week, the fit blonde said "what do you want me to do first tiger?"
I said, hide behind that curtain, I can hear the wife coming down the stairs and I can't find the remote!
run a coaxial cable from your sky box rf out socket on back of the box, to your tv upstairs , its a analogue signal so you will have to retune the upstair tv and can only watch whats on the box downstairs ' or theres a sky eye thingy you can get , i cant help on that
I ran a coax from the sky box RFout to my other tv. Luckily it was only the other side of the wall so a quick hole and it was done. I use my iPad as the remote control, works a treat.
If you do go the co ax route, remember I think you need to go into the settings of the sky box, to tell it to transmit the signal via the co ax as well as the Hdmi or scart....
Not tried on Sky - but you can get Wireless AV transmitters as well. Run a scart cable to a wireless device on your stb, connect the receiver upstairs to the scart cable on your TV and boom you get to watch whats on the STB. Depending on the Infra-RED being used in your remote you may also be able to relay the remote control as well.
When I did it on virgin remote control didnt work as the relay was a different type of infra red to the remote.
Nice portable option, ideal for us as we were renting and were not allowed to drill holes for cables
