My uncle’s both went to Chatham Tech before joining the RAF one as a pilot and the other and engineer. I went to Chatham South school it was so rough they closed it down and merged it with Fort Luton and I grew up on White Road Estate so I know the violence part wellI started my RAF entrance process there as well. I never made it past the last test though.
Went to Chatham Tech, which used to supply most Dockyard apprentices. I would have been in the last years intake if I had accepted it.
Back then, the Medway Towns were one of the most violent places to live but it’s miles better now.

Actually couldn’t be more wrong it’s a common misconception and old wives tale that is was named for the burial of plague victims during the 1665 Black Death. Which is incorrect, as the name Gravesham is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, a full 500 years earlier.Gravesend?? Name says it all really![]()
