In November, after a 100% price increase, I left Virgin and signed up with Sky (Broadband and TV) a 2 year contract. I got letter yesterday saying that the BB is going up by £4 and the TV by £6. I have just called Sky who understood my frustration and said that I can leave (the broken contract (both contracts)) without penalty.

I want reliable BroadBand and free view TV and the golf TV channel - where do I get that (without Virgin or Sky)?

Very surprised by Sky’s stance that you can leave for nowt. They don’t state that the 24 months is a fixed price in 99% of contracts and that prices will rise in April of each year.

But it they are offering it, take it as someone has made an error. As for golf channel, do you mean Sky Golf or the American channel called The Golf Channel?

The contracts haven’t been broken, as such annual increases, as unfair as they seem, will be allowable in the small print. Same as mobile phone providers.

To answer the question, I have my broadband with BT and my TV package through Sky. Both are reliable and, whilst not especially cheap, I’ve struggled to price match elsewhere.

As Sky as have most of the golf then you will need to be with them to get it

Can you get the golf through Now TV ? It's Sky owned so it might not be massively cheaper but it's worth looking at.

Ultimately, the golf is on Sky, PGA and DP, so you are going to have to deal with them one way or the other.

We had sky 150 FFFP installed last week and it’s great, we got it for £27 PM, they are now offering 300FFFP for £29 now so there are good deals about. Unexpectedly when the engineer done the install he said we get full sky sports free for 3 Months, he said at the end of the 3 months if we go to cancel it Sky will offer a big discount.

*I wondered how openreach would get the fibre to our house, thinking the drive might have to come up, didn’t realise they install it on there telegraph poles now!

Yes community fibre did the same, up the telegraph pole, to the house. BT had to start sharing resources otherwise customers just lose out

Ironically community fibre was in months before BT full fibre in our road for a fraction of the cost

Now TV is not a lot cheaper than SKY sports. Useful though if you want to do a short rental just to watch one specific event.

I'm paying £26 per month on a 6 month commitment for all the Sky Sports and Sports+ channels on Now TV at the moment.

At the moment we have 4g internet giving me at best 9 Mbps @ £45 a month, Sky TV including sports (All I need is Sky Golf but you need to get the full package) at £99 a month and telephone at £15 a month plus calls. I have just been told by Open Reach I can get Full Fibre Broadband of over 1000 Mbps and have gone for EE's package of 500 Mbps plus Sky and free phone for £75 per month.

Thanks for the helpful replies - - - BB and TV is a nightmare
Agree, and it doesn't help that so many people seem to be paying different prices with the same companies for the same packages. You are at the whim of the person at the other end of the phone when you ring up as to what they want to offer you. Sometimes threatening to quit or pleading long term loyalty works, but if the person has hit their targets for the month (so it seems) they give you nothing.
