So, thoughts at the halfway stage...

Day 1:

Europe played pretty well in fairness but still can play better. The USA payed superbly and have no room for improvement in my opinion.

Westwood & Hansen getting a half was a triumph for golf over the boom-bash-ball of Weekly & Hol....sorry I drifted off waiting for him to play a shot.

Day 2:

Great gutsy effort from the lads and have turned the tide. We could and should have been out of it by now, but we're right in the thick of it now.

European players:

Harrington - emulating Woods a bit too much this season. Great strokeplay, team play well under his ability and a lack of obvious desire or interest. Must improve.

Poulter - there's a lot of people (especially on here) who owe this lad an apology. 1st class.

Rose, Hansen, Wilson, McDowell, Westwood, Jiminez - all playing brilliantly.

Stenson, Casey, Garcia, Karlsson - not up to scratch and need to get better.

USA players:

Kim - not a 'great character'; he's a bit of a dick frankly.

Perry & Furyk - if golf swings can be compared to porn, these are the equivalent of reader's wives...from 1972.

Leonard & Mahan - playing out of their skins and Leonard's putting has always been hot and this season has found some form again.

JB Holmes - I swear he must have '666' under that hat. The absolute anti-christ of golf.

Captains:

Faldo - showing more nerves than I've ever seen from him but doing alright.

Azinger - I really hope we wipe that smug grin off his face.

Commentary:

Please someone get rid of the simpering old git Jacklin. The only consolation so far is that he hasn't started crying yet or trying to sell us a K1...

Ewen Murray - try and be a bit less sour about the whole Darren Clarke thing and give Poulter the praise his game has deserved.

Good this whole Ryder Cup thing, ain't it?

Not sure I'd agree with all your evaluations -

Harrington was not playing well this morning whereas Stenson did - not spectacular but he was leaving Ollie a lot of chances to finish. Ollie, again not spectacular but redeemed by that finishing putt.
Casey/Garcia - neither had a good day yesterday and Karlsson hasn't had a good one yet.

Paddy been dire, chopping it big time,Stenson has been great.
Murray is still sour but for me he is still better than Critchley who bores me to sleep.More Oosty less Critchley please.
Yanks played well and for me seem to be able to produce the big shots/putts more than we are.
Still think we will lose by at least 6 points I'm afraid.

the one thing I've missed that they have with the pga coverage is the overhead shots from Snoopy.
all in all though, the coverage has been better than average, despite the incessant ad breaks.

and yes, critchley is never going to be the new allis,
and I'd rather listen to butch than jacko, very fair guy.

Spot on Toonarmy!

Watching him in this mornings session he had laser beam eyes there was no way he was getting beat!

Fair play to him he's said plenty, been given plenty back but for me he's been superb for the team.
