Hi guys,

I am seriously considering taking a package through a travel agent and going to this years Ryder Cup (I'm based in Ireland).

One thing that slightly puts me off is the fact that at the event, you really miss 90% of the action in comparison to what you can view on tv.

Also, there is less golfers than a regular tournament so you would imagine the crowds would be crazy at each match. Is it easy to follow matches or should you stay in one spot all day?

In one way I am really keen to go as I think the atmosphere will be electric. However, it is alot of money to spend and then possibly be frustrated with constantly straining to see the action and know what is going on.

Would appreciate people's thoughts on this...especially if you have attended a Ryder Cup in the past??

It depends upon how much/what it means to you.

I went to the one at Celtic Manor with the missus. Luckily we picked the Saturday, so got to see more play than normal. I witnessed history and the memories will last forever. I've seen my footy team win many great finals and the ryder cup is up there with them.

You'll get to see a lot of play, and maybe seeing it the other side of the pond, will give you a great story in the bar, if we win.

It is better on tv watching wise, but being able to say I seen the final putt by ###### to win the Ryder cup in Amercia would be priceless.

If you can afford it, go for it. Witnessing historical sporting events live is beyond compare.

i stopped going to major golf tournaments years ago, standing 10 deep and seeing the top of a golfers head and listening to the ooosss and aaaaahhhhhh just got boring,or rushing to find a spot and waiting for hours to see anyone pass then hoping no one would jump in your spot if you went for a drink or toilet stop,i would sooner watch from the comfort of my lounge and see all the action plus it is now to expensive to go and "soak up the atmosphere"yeah rite, cant take enough drink or food into venues and held ransom by dick turpin and his band of vendors,no my days of being taken for a mug are long gone.
