The Sunday games have been delayed because of the rain again when the rain clears they will get started. They have penciled in the 1st week in May.
Why is one of the biggest and best golf comp. being played when a lot of golfers are puting their clubs past for the winter.
Answers on a £20 note please

Just seen the course on TV, I've never seen a course with so much water on it, I'm not talking about the ponds either. They say there could be play at noon today, Not a hope in hells chance.

After the summer we've had i don't think there was a much better time to play it tbh. Even the open had play suspended due to weather conditions.

No so much the time of year - I was down at the Muirfield vicinity yesterday and it was sunny, no wind and 16 degrees.
They had to take the RC to the east side of the UK for a late in the year golf event.
Of course $$$ and £££ talks and any rationality goes out the window. They've got what we all knew they would get - a wash out and a ruined event.

I was down at the driving range at Gailes yesterday and despite the rain we've had here Glasgow Gailes and Western Gailes were both puddle free and the links turf solid underfoot!

As I have said all along, you can put as much drainage in as you like however if its not a naturally draining area of land, saturation point will be reached and the water can only come back up the way.

Stupid choice of venue from the off. I can guarantee you that Turnberry would have been playable.

Bear in mind that we've had a "reasonable" September down here this year too..practically tropical!
Imagine what the place would be like if last month had been wet as well.

if it had not been moved back in the golfing calendar to fit around the fed-ex things would probably have been fine.

to finished today they they should just cancel all unfinished matches and send the captains out on a 5 point bonus captain takes all match

Crazy choice of venue. First week in October with the whole of Europe to pick from and the powers that be go for South Wales. There was always a significant risk that this would happen. In effect they have gambled with the success of the event and to hell with the consequences for the fans. They have got exactly what they deserved IMHO but no doubt Celtic Manor will be able to crank up the prices on the back of it so objective achieved.
I've booked a trip next summer to Slaley Hall for 48 @ £184pp, the exact same at the Belfry would have been £324. Judge for yourself what the real agenda is here.

I've been investigating and even if it gets started today and pairs matches finished, it will go into tomorrow.
If tomorrow is dire, any matches unfinished by 6.40pm will be called halved.

It's not satisfactory.

I just wonder (not that it makes a jot of difference) if singles matches that have reached the 10th or further should be called a result, in the worst case.

In fairness to the organisers and course planners etc. the rain is SO bad in this region (all down the Wales/England border from North to South) it couldn't have been a serious consideration. I can't leave my house by car (due to ground water) and this only happens once or twice a year.

Was always a comedy of errors selecting celtic manor in october.

If it wasnt for having to accommodate the $$$$$$$$$$$ of the fedex cup we might have got away with it but then golf isnt about the sporting side now is it, it is just about money.

Im am so annoyed about this it is unbelievable. I am going to miss all the play tomorrow.

They are due to get started at 1:30pm i believe. Why not get the USA to concede in 2 matches.....declare the other 4 all square and just have the 12 singles this afternoon starting at 8 a piece ?
