And Hall missed the cut in the Irish Open. He also played a number of other events without ripping up any trees, so there's no reason to think he'd be piling up wins (or even top 10s) on the European Tour. He has one win in a weak-field co-sanctioned PGA Tour alternate event, and a couple of KFT wins a few years ago. The idea he'd be in with a chance of a pick without performing in a strong field somewhere is laughable.

Hall hasn’t performed enough to gain a pick - any event with a strong field he hasn’t picked up enough points
There are events within the DP tour that do have points that can get someone qualified and Hall could have played in them but he didn’t
If he plays well in those elevated events and majors over the next two years he maybe in with a shout next time

Harry Hall hasn't been eligble for Signature events most of the year; only played 3, one of which was the comedy Hawaii one over New Year where none of the top players turn up (shouldn't be a Signature!), and one on a proper test of a golf course (Pebble Beach) where he never broke 70 and came 58th.
His statistical record is largely from 2nd tier - and even 3rd tier - events where the courses are set up that bit easier. Explains the stat comms trot out about him shooting in the 60s more than any other player than Scheffler - less impressive than it seems.
As such he'd need to really excel in the big events he did play to be worthy of a pick. Instead he's been quietly very good rather than great. Plenty of Top 20s without really contending. Two top 30s in the majors he did play also sums it up - certainly creditable but not dazzling. MC at The Players.
What he's proved this season is that he's a consistent Tier 1 player who should be in all those Signature events and all the Majors. Fair play to him - that's a great season, a clear move to a level up for him and he gets the opportunity to push on from here next year. It's not Ryder Cup level though. Smashing into the Top 30 this week (he probably needs to be Top 3 in the tournament to do so?) to get to next week, then winning or nearly so at East Lake might change the narrative - but that's the minimum he'd need to do - and that's an incredibly high bar...

I'm really not that bothered if Hall is picked or not.
What would concern me would be if Hojgaard was picked after the year he had.
It would be a reminder of previous times when the Captain only had two or three picks and qualifying points were accumulated over a two year span.
Too often this resulted in players with no recent form having to be hidden and sometimes not called upon until final day singles
This then begs the question who should get the last couple of places if not Hall or Hojgaard?
And BTW The Travelers is also a Signature event and only one of Hall's Top 10's came in what could legitimately be called a 2nd tier tournament.

I've literally never heard of Hall mentioned in Ryder Cup contention before. I thought he was only notable for wearing a silly hat.

No his club is West Cornwall many miles from here.
As I have said I am not bothered if he is picked but I do feel that Hojgaard would be a mistake for the reasons stated.
The team would benefit more from someone whose good form was more current and consistent.

I have played it several times whilst on holiday in Cornwall.
As well as St Enodoc and Trevose there are certainly some quirky courses down there
