Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Since last year's PGA Championship, Rahm has only finished outside the top-10 twice in 20 tournaments (MC in Dubai, and T14 in The Masters - where only 3 Europeans finished ahead of him), winning twice, and with a top-10 in The Open and a top-5 in the Olympics.
Anyone questioning Rahm's form is talking out of the side of their mouth (or is utterly clueless).

Fitzpatrick on the other hand, hasn't sniffed a top-10 (been close to a couple of top-20s though) since before the US Open last June.
Fitzpatrick is not loss. Rahm has that certain intimidation factor we have lacked since perhaps the days of Seve Ollie or a Poulter

Just watching a rerun on Sky of the ‘97 Ryder Cup. It was a different world - they just had Monty hitting (on the flat with no wind) a 211 yard 2 iron and Langer hitting 126 yard 9 iron - although he equally did hit a 170 yard 6 iron slightly uphill.

Just wondering if we can get an update from the anti-Rahm brigade now? Another top ten in a major, making it 3 from the last 4. Tied 14th in the other one. Still seems pretty decent to me.

I imagine we can add Spaun to the US team now, if he wasn't in the thoughts already. May benefit us if he loses his current purple patch of form, a bit like Clark and Harman last time (albeit neither of them were among the worst players in that US side). Best player in that team was Homa, who has now dropped off a cliff somewhat.

Bob Mac a shoo-in for us now as well? Decent performance from Hovland too which should ease some people's worries.

I'm not sure there's really many in an anti Rahm brigade...just more that he's unlikely to qualify unless he wins a Major so he's got to show some form in them to justify a pick.
A reasonably in-form Jon Rahm would be on anyone's list for a pick...and this last week he's do e himself the world of good.
Had he missed the cut then more questions would be being asked.
He's probably done enough now.

Bob is up to 4th so he's qualifying as of now and even if he doesn't make the top 6 it would be a very brave decision to not pick him.

JJ up to 3rd so may well have done enough...USA 2nd 6 are not looking like much to worry about......

What “anti rahm” brigade ?

The point was simple

Unless he wins a major he will struggle to get into the team automatically

So he will be relying on a pick which isn’t a 100% guarentee

There is no anti Rahm brigade if he is in form when the RC comes around and is showing it then he will get a pick

The OP and one or two others were acting like there was a danger of Rahm not being selected. There was never a chance of him not being in the team in my mind. He's just too good. Levels above anybody that you could replace him with.

I don't really get why there were 'questions' about Rahm, but not about say, Fleetwood who has a decidedly worse major record. Well, I guess I do know why, it's because he's on LIV and it's popular to act like LIV golfers aren't competitive anymore.

I agree it currently looks like we have the stronger team with more in-form players. Surprised JT is as high as 5 according to this when his form still seems patchy to me.

It is 99.9% guaranteed though, given that he is levels above the other potential picks and we'd be utterly braindead not to pick him. That's the point.

Fleetwood is just outside the automatic picks

It’s got sweet FA to do with LIV

At the moment the points standings and those just outside are very similar to last time with Fitzpatrick nowhere near and Rahm down in 20th

And Thomas won the Heritage, 2nd in 3 other events this year so far

I know right why would we leave our second best player at home
Well....
Hatton has the same access to RC points as Rahm..both being LIV..
Hatton has 1216 points
Rahm has 544 and is currently in 17th place in the standings...
I think he's done enough but if some of the others who are in front of him have good finishes from now until decision time and Rahm's form drops off then it's about as certain as Niemann winning a Major that he gets picked...a decent bet but no guarantee.
The only certainties are the 6 that qualify...
Relying on a pick is a risk no matter who you are...

Or he has a dramatic loss of form

As we have seen with players in the past

Golf is very fickle that way , if Rahm keeps up this consistent performance then he will be picked
In only three months? No, no chance. You still take a chance on him because he's a million miles better than the other possible picks.
