It's too late now as my daughter signed the card, but what's the rule on another player nicking your ball, she saw her ball land & her two playing partners knew it was her ball. But on the way up to the ball a player in the group going down the opposite fairway took his stance over her ball, my daughter waved to say no, he ignored her a hit it & made a quick exit down his fairway, daughter found a ball in a ditch that was not hers & must have been the said blokes. Her ball was marked, but in the end she went back to the tee taking a penalty as she & her partners didn't know the ruling.

Rub of the green - it has happened to me exactly as you described (including the hasty departure of the culprit).

Surely she could have replaced the ball without penalty. If they saw another player strike her ball then she can't be penalised for that.
If you don't see it being hit and you can't therefore find it, then that's "rub of the Green".....

18.4...If a fellow-competitor, his caddie or his equipment moves the player’s ball, touches it or causes it to move, there is no penalty. If the ball is moved, it must be replaced.

Surely she'd have to prove it was her ball by going over and confronting the guy and examining the ball? If it was hers, then I guess it could be replaced as Imurg said but without that confirmation, not much she can do.

It's this "virtually certain" phrase again. If the ball remained in sight then they could be certain or virtually certain that the ball was hers.

In the OP

she saw her ball land & her two playing partners knew it was her ball.

That would be certain enough for me.

So if her partners agreed 100% it was her ball you can take a free drop.

Also on another subject a man who's a member of the club who's a very good player approached her & asked if for some playing lessons with him & me in attendance, would she wear his company's logo on her clothing while at golf. I don't think she can as this would come as some sort of sponsorship I think, nice offer though.

It is to be replaced on the spot it was moved from not dropped. Comes under Rule 18.

If this can't be determined then drop in an area that is not the most or least favorable spot in the area the ball lay. (Based on Decision:18-1/5)

Firstly, the guy who hit the 'wrong' ball and scarpered is a right git.

If she has signed a card, is there a chance he was in a comp too - him hitting the wrong ball is cheating - and by his reaction he may well have known it too!!

Second, it's surely an outside agency. If you tee your ball and you (and your playing partners) see where it land. You then seen someone or something come in and remove that ball - you place a ball as near as possibly to where you all agree that it landed before being moved.

Yes the said man was in the same comp, my daughter wanted him DQ'd :) as it was one of her Penta balls he made off with

Do you know who it was and at what hole? It is highly likely he didn't mark the 2 stroke penalty for playing a wrong ball and there would be grounds for DQ.
