Say you are pitching over a lake to the green and your ball gets wet, do you play your next shot in line from:

where the ball starting crossing water and the flag

or

Where the ball went splash and the flag?

As these are likely very different places to take a drop?

Thanks.

I may be wrong but I think you need to keep the point at which it last crossed the hazard line (i.e. the nearest yellow line/stake) between you and the hole.

Assuming of course it's a yellow hazard.

I would have thought that a lake where you need to pitch over to reach the green is unlikely to be a lateral water hazard.

Assuming it's a yellow hazard it's on a line from the pin and where the ball crossed the hazard boundary.

The videos suggested above explain it all very clearly and are a darn site quicker than wading through the rules!
