Player 1 plays 4 off the tee.

Player 1's first shot OOB. PLayer 2 hits 3 off the tee, except misses. No matter, still a stroke. Player 1 is back in the frame and the next shot is number 4.

Better advice is that if your partner is of such skill that he can play an air shot off a tee, you need a new partner.

Tongue in cheek DCB , however , I for one do like the greensome format. 2 chances of a good drive and then alternate shots. If youre both good players then a good score awaits you. Also i've found that its a pretty quick format too so no 4 hour rounds

Actually play it on a golfing weekend with my mates. Greensomes along with Foresomes make for an easier afternoon round if we're playing twice in one day.

I do enjoy playing both formats though.

Variety of formats is whats its about. No point playing stableford every time you go out there , much too boring. A bit of skins , greensomes , foursomes , medal , stableford , team matches , units/bits etc etc

Try them all a few times a year and see how it goes. Same as just sticking to your home course would bore the hell out of me , i've got to get out there and pit my game against all types of tracks in all types of weather. It lets you know just how good your handicap really is or whether youre just kidding yourself.
