I was recently talking to my nephew after he'd been in a comp where he was penalised for hitting another ball on the green whilst putting.

I told him there was no penalty as it wasnt a stroke play comp, now was I right?

Been thinking about it and I cant find my rule book, I think Im having one of those mental blocks (no jokes please :D

Rule 19-5

a) At rest - If a players ball in motion after a stroke is deflected or stopped by a ball in play and at rest, the player must play his ball as it lies. In match play there is no penalty. In stroke play there is no penalty unless both balls lay on the putting green prior to the stroke in which case the player incurs a penalty of two strokes

Isn't it in your golf bag? :D

Thats just the basic pocket sized rough guide to golf and DIY Bob. My full rule book has gone missing for a while, but I have a son who is an avid reader, trouble is that books can now be discovered in the Loo, the hall, the garden, the shed, the car, the garage, the dog cage......so methinks under his bed or anywhere on earth is a good start point. :D
