I was playing in my first medal comp of the year yesterday and had managed to get to the 11th without ruining my round, the only hiccup being that I walked past my ball in the rough on the 10th and had to walk back 30 yds to find it which too,k at most, a minute.

Myself and my playing partner were walking down the 11th to our tee shots when some beige pringle-wearing paunch on legs on comes stomping across from the parralel 10th ranting that we were too slow and that we were not keeping up with the fourball in front. This really got up our noses as:

1 - We had been climbing all over the fourball in front for every hole so far apart from the 10th/11th because of the slight ball-finding delay.
2 - The four ball in front had been on the 2nd tee when we were starting the 1st and we had caught them by the third.
3 - We were off the whites and the sniffy @&%$ behind the yellows!

If you are going to get on your high horse, get your facts straight first!!!!!!

I was so annoyed that my next shot was hooked into the trees with a 7 being the result, followed by a series of bogies and doubles ruining my round, my day and my mood.

Speaking to the pro on returning to the clubhouse, this member is apparently known for this type of behaviour.

We caught the four in front by the second shots on the 12th and had to wait on every hole from then on. Total round time, white tees, medal play 3 hours 30.....too slow, make your own mind up, but this ar$£?@*& ruined my round, I felt like waiting for him and beating my entry fee out of him (but didn't). Rant over, feeling better now.

Persistent Ignoramus!

Unless he gets a bollocking from some 'authority', he'll go on ignorantly complaining. Oh, and some of the worst of this sort are (ex)committee members - or even past captains!

I had summit like this couple weeks back with a guy telling me to tee off when someone infront was 200yrd away!
Went to pro shop and complained and the pro asked me to write a letter and gave me the guys name lol. From what I gathered he does this alot but people don't complain to the director of golf.
He is Apprently just one of those pain in the arse members

I should have given him both barrels but I have not been a member at this club for long and for all I know he would be on the committee. Need to know when to pick my battles.

On the Committee or Not........A Knob is a Knob whichever way u dress them up

At my last club, I put a Slow Play letter in against the then Captain, got reply off committee and personal reply off captain, whom acknowledged the problem, had No Probs with him, just had to be said, still see him now and get on well enough with him

most committees will actually appreciate you putting this in writing, maybe even more so if he's a member of it!

such people, taking your comments at face value, will cause general problems and the committee end up between it all with nothing but the odd through away comment and glaring looks.

keep it simple, don't over embelish.

Had similar thing happen on an away day and Strandhill in Sligo. My 4 ball caught up with the group in front on the next tee box but it completely threw my game to hell.

I have to agree. Unless you complain formally and through the right channels nothing will change. At least if this guy already has a reputation and you put it in formally the committee (at my club at least) have a responsibility to investigate it and that would mean calling him to a committee meeting at the least to explain his actions

Had a class moment at ours yesterday, comIng down our par 5 4th a lady is standing near the green. As we get closer we wave to get her to move as she is standing next to the green side bunker and a large bush (no comments!). We soon realise its part of the clipboard brigade monitoring that all booked players are present etc. the result we all make a mess of the hole. Before we had even holed out we were asked why we had dropped a hole on the group infront. She was informed that the group infront hadn't rang the bell on the first and were leaving the second tee by the time we teed off. We then asked why she was standing in the most stupid place to ask this question as she was in our line if sight and put us all off. The fifth tee is set back from the 4th green behind a group of trees. Surely this would be a better and safer place to hang about and ask her questions? To make matters worse the two ball behind had now caught us up and so let them through as the jolly nice fellas we are!
